Fuel is one of the most challenging and visible expenses for public agencies to manage. And siloed systems make it difficult to connect what’s purchased with how the fuel is actually used. Together, Samsara and RoadFlex are helping agencies instantly validate fuel purchases against vehicle GPS, odometer, and engine status—no spreadsheets required. Initiative Foundation staff and board members hopped on a bus Monday for our annual Impact Tour - we spent the full day traveling part of our region celebrating and being nourished by the communities, changemakers, entrepreneurs and nonprofits we are so proud to support and cheer on. The Impact Tour is a day that honors all of our staff's contributions as equal and vital, whether our work brings us into community, or into sustaining internal structures. We were in Randall, where a longtime food exec left his large company to buy and re-open the grocery store in his small town that had closed. In Staples, with Sourcewell and Region Five Development Commission, our fellow rural condition-builders and champions whose partnerships have been so close for decades they blur organizational lines - childcare, tribal development, mental health, workforce, and more. Chad Coauette Paul Drange Charitie Herbst, MBA Tammy Feige Filippi Cheryal Hills Staci Headley Jeff Phillips In Eagle Bend, where legions of volunteers and Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota transformed an old school into the HILLTOP REGIONAL KITCHEN, serving meals locally and regionally - and baking award-winning cookies by the thousands as a fundraiser. Verna Toenyan In Long Prairie, where multiple cohorts of Latino and Hispanic Enterprise Academy graduates have started businesses, bought and renovated buildings, and are transforming the culture. One entrepreneur, Gabrier, was recently elected to the city council. I'm proudest to hear stories of people and places supported by the Foundation not just recently, but years and often decades ago. It showcases how this work, at IF and in community, is so much larger and longer than any one of us.
