Care You Can Trust

About us

St. Mary’s is a local, independent healthcare organization with a proud 120-year tradition of providing quality, compassionate care to New York’s Fulton-Montgomery region. Our 1,400+ team members share a passion for excellence, a commitment to our community, and a fundamental belief that a career in healthcare is life changing for patients and providers alike. Our supportive environment encourages input, creativity, and collaboration. This combination enables us to attract and retain talented individuals who embrace opportunities to better serve our rural community. As a result, in addition to inpatient care at our 130-bed hospital, we offer a robust array of outpatient services where our community needs them most—close to home. These include but are not limited to primary care and pediatrics; urgent and emergency care; general and minimally invasive (including robotic) surgery; oncology/cancer care; behavioral health and addiction medicine; obstetrics and gynecology; otolaryngology (ENT); gastroenterology; podiatry; infusion therapy; sports medicine, physiatry, and rehabilitation services; and a headache center. We even have a community pharmacy to make it as easy as possible for patients to obtain their medication. And we’re adding pulmonology and a sleep center. In keeping with the mission of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Mary’s pays special attention to the poor and underserved. We remain committed to meeting the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical needs of our patients and to providing the necessary resources—within and outside the workplace—to take great care of our St. Mary’s family.

  • National Case Management Week is a time to shine a spotlight on the professionals who lead with heart, expertise, and purpose. This year’s theme, “Guiding Journeys,” celebrates the vital role case managers play in navigating patients and families through some of the most critical moments in their health care experience. Case managers don’t just manage care—they guide people. They connect the dots across complex systems, offer clarity during uncertainty, and advocate fiercely for the best outcomes. Their work is both strategic and deeply personal, and it deserves to be recognized. Here at St. Mary’s Healthcare, we employ Case Managers throughout the care continuum. From acute inpatient care, to outpatient ambulatory Case Management in primary care, through Health Homes, ACT, and AOT, and beyond, St. Mary’s is blessed with kind, compassionate, dedicated, and highly skilled Case Managers who fiercely advocate for each of their patients/clients. From the little moments of sitting and listening to your patients to breaking down systemic barriers to get your patients what they need, you are essential to our Mission and a critical part of the care team. We would like to honor each of you and extend our sincere gratitude for your dedication to your profession and to those we serve!

  • On August 8, 2024, Ben and Chelsea Ruzycky experienced the heartbreaking loss of their son, Theodore, who was stillborn at St. Mary’s in Amsterdam. In remembrance of Theo and to honor what would have been his first birthday, Chelsea and Ben chose to give back in a deeply meaningful way. Recognizing our team’s efforts to expand bereavement resources for families coping with infant loss, the Ruzycky's organized a GoFundMe campaign in Theo’s name. With the support of their loved ones and the wider community, they raised over $4,000 to purchase items from our perinatal wish list. Through their generosity and love, Theodore’s legacy will continue to bring comfort and hope to families walking a similar path of loss. His memory lives on in every act of kindness inspired by his story. St. Mary’s is deeply grateful to Ben and Chelsea for their incredible generosity. Their donation not only honors Theodore’s memory but also strengthens our ability to support families during their most difficult moments. Infant Loss Awareness Week is observed October 12-18.
