The Center for Digital Government announced this week that Stafford County won in the county category of the seventh annual Government Experience Awards. The award is given to jurisdictions that have elevated technology standards to provide a more intuitive, customer-centric approach in delivering essential residential services. Stafford, the first county in Virginia to implement a website chatbot, won for integrating the latest models of ChatGPT to improve and enhance the chatbot’s ability to find and answer resident questions. Last week Stafford County held their Annual Food Truck Frenzy! This yearly employee appreciation event is a chance not only to show employees they are valued and appreciated, but also an opportunity for employees to come together and have some fun and catch up while enjoying some great food from local food trucks! #teamstafford

This morning, members of the Stafford County Sheriff's Office and Stafford County Fire and Rescue participated in the Stafford County Government's Annual 9/11 Ceremony to remember and honor the innocent lives taken on September 11, 2001. Thank you to everyone who attended. #neverforget

Stafford County Utilities won the Public Communication & Outreach Program Award from WEF (Water Environment Federation) for the Captain Clog superhero education program. In partnership with Community Engagement, the Utilities Department created a superhero theme to increase awareness about how residents can help protect the sanitary sewer system and conserve water. The main character, Captain Clog, along with other characters, have become a vehicle to communicate various awareness and outreach topics. Three comic books have been created for outreach—the first about the water and wastewater treatment processes, the second about water conservation and third about the impact of fats, oils and grease on the sewer system. Stafford County announces that Stafford Utilities $25 million series 2025 Water and Sewer System Revenue Bonds have received an AAA bond rating from Standard & Poor’s rating agency. Achieving the AAA rating allows Stafford to borrow at a lower rate, saving more than $5 million, to upgrade the plant at the Smith Lake Wastewater Treatment Facility. Standard & Poor’s cited Stafford’s consistent revenue growth, exceptional liquidity and very strong debt service coverage in granting the bond rating. Amazon is partnering with Stafford’s community partner The Community Foundation to launch a $300,000 grant fund to support innovation and resilience in the Rappahannock Region. The grant program is focusing on supporting initiatives like STEM education, sustainability and environment, community development, digital skills, cultural heritage preservation and health and wellbeing in the counties of Stafford, Caroline, Spotsylvania and Louisa.
