#100DesiDeeptechs — an initiative of the Startup Policy Forum — came alive formally at TiECON 2025, and the energy and conviction on stage said it all.
We at SPF feel hugely privileged to bring together the collective strength of the ecosystem — founders, investors, government enablers, ecosystem champions - for one shared mission: to power India’s deeptech ascent, as the theme set by TiE Delhi-NCR rightly summed it.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening and spotlighting 100 homegrown deeptech ventures that are reshaping India’s innovation frontier and helping us script a policy blueprint.
We also inaugurated the first edition of SPF’s “Deeptech BaatCheet” at the same platform — moving beyond the glitz of photo-ops to the essential work of a policy dialogue.
Gratitude to those who joined us on stage for the launch and for leading the roundtable — Anjali Bansal, Founding Partner of Avaana Capital who is on our Deeptech Advisory Board and chaired the roundtable, Vani Kola, Managing Director of Kalaari Capital, Arpana Shahi, founder, Gabit, Manish Diwan, Head, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Sudipto Sannigrahi, Managing Director at Z47, Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman, Indian Angels, Atul Dhawan, President, TiE Delhi-NCR, Chinmaya Saxena, Partner (Community), BEENEXT.
Huge gratitude to all our Deeptech Advisory Board members who have been supporting us behind the scenes by short listing the cohort.
Twenty exceptional deeptech startups from across sectors like drones, space tech, advanced materials, electric mobility, semiconductors and more joined us for the first roundtable to offer sharp, actionable policy insights.
This is one of many roundtables we will host over the next few weeks, to feed into a policy whitepaper being collated by Ikigai Law.
The momentum is real. Our initiative is now gathering wide support, with government stakeholders, research institutions, innovators , investors and ecosystem partners joining hands and with Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Startup India,MeitY Startup Hub and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras as our official collaborators.
A special note of gratitude to Minister Piyush Goyal for his consistent energy and encouragement in driving India’s deeptech ecosystem forward, to India’s IT Secretary S Krishnan for his words of encouragement, to Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science, Technology and Innovation for driving the deeptech agenda under Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the ambitious RDI program and to Joint Secretary Sanjiv Singh for being the torchbearer of Indian startups.
Here’s to 100 Desi Deeptechs — and to the hundreds more that will define India’s technological decade.
