It was inspiring to be part of the India’s Deeptech Ascent summit by TiE Delhi-NCR, where the energy and conviction around India’s deeptech journey could be felt in every conversation. As someone deeply invested in this space, I was heartened to see how aligned our collective vision is of building India’s technological future through science-led innovation and entrepreneurship. Over the past decade, India has gone from one private space startup to more than 400, building everything from launch vehicles to in-orbit systems transforming what once felt like science fiction into a $40B+ industry in the making. A defining moment of the day was Shri Piyush Goyal’s stirring address. He spoke not just of innovation, but of ownership of India’s responsibility to lead in building technologies that reflect our values and aspirations. His call for technological self-reliance driven by courage, collaboration, and conviction resonated deeply. The platform also offered a wonderful opportunity to present the upcoming CXXO “Wired for Impact” report to him, underscoring the importance of women’s leadership in shaping India’s AI and deeptech landscape. I was also honoured to join the launch of “100 Desi DeepTechs”, an initiative by Startup Policy Forum in partnership with DPIIT – Startup India, MeitY Startup Hub, and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, led by Shweta Rajpal Kohli. This program will bring together 100 startups to shape policies that accelerate India’s deeptech ecosystem from lab to market. A big shout out to Geetika Dayal and the TiE Delhi-NCR team for creating a space that advances this dialogue. #100DesiDeeptechs: A proud moment for the Startup Policy Forum as we kick off the ‘100 Desi DeepTechs’ initiative with a formal launch at TiECON 2025 today. We will spotlight 100 homegrown deeptech innovators and provide them a platform to share policy inputs that will enable tailwinds for growth of the deeptech ecosystem. What makes this special is how it’s grown into an ecosystem-wide effort, bringing together several ministries, government departments, ecosystem enablers, founders and investors who share a common vision to make India a global deeptech powerhouse. We were honoured to have S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology share his thoughts on the significance of 100 Desi Deeptechs and extend his support to the Forum, ecosystem partners and our Board Advisors who are joining us in driving this mission. The initiative has been launched in partnership with Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Startup India, MeitY Startup Hub and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. #100DesiDeeptechs — an initiative of the Startup Policy Forum — came alive formally at TiECON 2025, and the energy and conviction on stage said it all. We at SPF feel hugely privileged to bring together the collective strength of the ecosystem — founders, investors, government enablers, ecosystem champions - for one shared mission: to power India’s deeptech ascent, as the theme set by TiE Delhi-NCR rightly summed it. The initiative is aimed at strengthening and spotlighting 100 homegrown deeptech ventures that are reshaping India’s innovation frontier and helping us script a policy blueprint. We also inaugurated the first edition of SPF’s “Deeptech BaatCheet” at the same platform — moving beyond the glitz of photo-ops to the essential work of a policy dialogue. It was a privilege to chair the inaugural plenary session of the #100DesiDeepTechs initiative hosted by Startup Policy Forum at TiE Delhi-NCR's India’s Deep Tech Ascent Summit this week. Led by Shweta Rajpal Kohli and co-anchored by Startup India, MeitY Startup Hub and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, this forum marks an important step toward building the enabling environment required for deep tech startups to scale  - signaling India’s readiness to invest in long-horizon, technology-led innovation with clarity and conviction. SPF’s first Deeptech Baatcheet roundtable brought together perspectives from twenty exceptional deep tech startups, including Amperehour, BacAlt, Dharaksha, Enlite, Phyx44, Tsuyo, and Dreamfly Innovations, who shared actionable insights on policy frameworks and pathways to unlock their next phase of growth. Hon’ble Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal’s inspiring address underscored the importance of fostering deeper alignment across policy, academia, capital, and industry to strengthen supply chain resilience and build sovereign capabilities in critical sectors through IP-led innovation. Heartfelt thanks to Geetika Dayal, Upasana Sharma and the TiECon team for convening such an impactful platform to drive this vital conversation forward. #Unprecedented: Still absorbing the news that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has sued the Trump administration over the H-1B visa fee hike — an extraordinary moment in modern policy history. For one of America’s most influential business institutions, representing millions of companies, to take this step underscores the scale of debate and disruption shaping today’s global policy landscape. Standing on the Chamber’s iconic terrace earlier in June, with The White House in view across the street, I was reminded how this historic building has for over a century witnessed and shaped some of the world’s most defining economic and trade decisions. Within this powerhouse operates the USIBC - US India Business Council, the Chamber’s bilateral arm that has championed U.S.-India business ties for five decades. Through the Startup Policy Forum’s collaboration with USIBC, we’ve seen firsthand how indispensable such bridges have become as technology, talent, and trade converge across borders. Just last month, during SPF’s Startup Safari, our delegation collaborated with USIBC and received a joint warm welcome at the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square — a vivid reminder that the private sector continues to advance cross-border dialogue even amid geopolitical ambiguity and turbulence. These are truly unprecedented times. Cross-border business alliances matter more than ever, connecting entrepreneurial energy with institutional advocacy as the world’s two largest democracies reshape bilateral ties in the midst of unparalleled innovation and opportunity. Honoured to join the Advisory Council of AI for India 2030, an initiative by the World Economic Forum, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. It was a privilege to participate in a session chaired by Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, for the launch of WEF’s AI Playbooks for MSMEs and Agriculture, along with a framework for AI Sandbox. The launch took place in the presence of S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY; SCL Das, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini, Office of PSA; and Mr. Anindya Banerjee, Advisor (Digital Infrastructure), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The timing is especially significant as India prepares to host the Global AI Impact Summit in February 2026 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — a platform expected to shape the global agenda on inclusive and people-centric AI.
