Please join us as we recognize Trooper Ty Wilkerson for receiving a Lifesaving Award for his actions last May, when he responded to a head-on collision on the Dallas North Tollway. His quick, decisive actions that day helped save lives. Alongside another Trooper, Wilkerson worked to reach the individuals who were trapped inside the vehicles, and he ultimately helped pull one of the drivers from their vehicle, which had caught fire. Trooper Wilkerson acted without regard for his own safety to save lives that day, and we are proud to recognize his lifesaving actions. Earlier this month, Trooper Jeremy Ellis was recognized with a Lifesaving Award by the Public Safety Commission for his actions in May 2025. Trooper Ellis responded to a major motor vehicle accident involving a wrong-way driver on the Dallas North Tollway who had collided head-on with another vehicle. Upon arriving on scene, Trooper Ellis immediately began working to reach the occupants of the vehicles who were trapped. A small explosion erupted from one of the vehicles, and Trooper Ellis worked alongside his fellow Trooper to enter the burning vehicle and pull the driver to safety. Trooper Ellis worked under extreme conditions — under the threat of fire and toxic smoke — to save lives that day, and we are proud to recognize his decisive, lifesaving actions with this award.
