Milwaukee has its first Innovation District, and guess where it is? Walker's Point, home to The Water Council! The neighborhood has changed quite a bit since the Global Water Center opened here in 2013. Today, it is home to innovative organizations and companies including Wantable, i.c.stars |* Milwaukee, BizStarts and even some of our members such as Rockwell Automation, Zurn Elkay Water Solutions and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences. The designation also includes the Milwaukee Harbor District. We're proud to be part of such an innovative community! https://lnkd.in/gNPFHuFy

We wrapped up our Nexus Sustainability Leaders Summit with Marquette Business on Wednesday with some insightful discussions regarding AI, risk and resilience in the insurance industry, sustainable finance, and innovation in the water technology and sustainability sectors. We heard from several attendees that this agenda was one of the strongest they'd seen at this event! We are grateful to everyone who spoke, sponsored and attended. See you next year!

Today I had the opportunity to visit the wastewater treatment plant of Milwaukee. Here, not only is the water treated, but every year they also produce 50,000 tons of @Milorganite — a slow-release fertilizer sold across the United States for use in lawns and gardens. It’s truly an impressive operation to see how such a high-quality product is made. I’m very grateful to the @Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (@MMSD) and Veolia for the extensive and insightful tour. @TheWaterCouncil

Thank you to @TheWaterCouncil for the invitation to the Nexus Sustainability Leaders Summit in Milwaukee. You chose excellent themes, brought together inspiring speakers, and created a format that kept everyone engaged throughout. Much was discussed, but my key takeaway is this: the term “sustainability” may be losing some of its buzz — yet it’s more relevant than ever. It’s up to us to articulate its true value more clearly: cost savings, resilience, and new business models. I’m heading home with a head full of new ideas and an even larger network of people — both within and beyond the sector — who are eager to take the next steps in making our water world more sustainable

It was another jam-packed day to round out this year's Nexus Summit - even though we wrapped by early afternoon! With conversations around water and energy, we had incredible speakers and attendees providing perspectives on: 🌟 Data center growth, thirst, and energy/economic tradeoffs 🌟 Acquiring data and managing risk in a dynamic climate 🌟 Innovative climate financing 🌟 Developing, financing, and integrating novel technologies for water treatment and the circular economy It was wonderful to hear diverse perspectives from speakers and attendees alike, to see old friends and meet new ones, and to feel the energy in the room to push forward with the important work - whether it's sustainability 🧛 , climate resilience 🧱 , risk reduction ☔ ... or all of the above! See you next year! Stacy Vogel Davis Karen J. Frost Matt Howard The Water Council Marquette Business

Grateful for the opportunity to join Charles Fishman for a fireside chat at the The Water Council Summit—set against the iconic backdrop of the Harley-Davidson Museum. We explored the evolving role of water in business, innovation, and resilience—and how the Water Resilience Coalition is helping lead the charge. Coming out of Climate Week in NYC, three things are clear: 1. Sustainability is being tested. Companies are under growing pressure to demonstrate real impact—not just intent. 2. Sustainability is becoming embedded. It’s no longer a bolt-on initiative. It’s a driver of growth, resilience, and competitive advantage. I shared examples from Ecolab’s work in Food & Beverage and Hospitality, including CIP IQ and DishIQ. 3. AI is everywhere. While much of the conversation centers on resource challenges, we also need to talk about how AI can accelerate positive impact—unlocking efficiency, insight, and scale with less water. Thanks to the Water Council for convening such a thoughtful and action-oriented summit—and to Charles for the engaging conversation.
