🎉 We had an incredible time celebrating the opening of The Kelsey Civic Center with residents, partners, and city leaders in San Francisco! From a joyful ribbon cutting to remarks from Tiffany Bohee of Mercy Housing, Micaela Connery, Daniel Lurie 丹尼爾·羅偉, and Bilal Mahmood the day highlighted the community as a blueprint for affordable, accessible, and inclusive housing. Our resident panel moderated by James Vossoughi of J.P. Morgan brought powerful stories of community, connection, and what a disability-forward future can look like in San Francisco and across the country. 💙 This isn’t just housing—it’s home. We joined the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) Annual Conference in New Orleans to share how disability-forward choices can be made at every step of housing design, development and operations. State Housing Finance Agencies have so much power in transforming housing opportunities for people with disabilities, and we’re grateful to convene with them to create a more equitable housing future. Over 350 advocates showed up to defend the critical federal housing programs—including Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8), HUD Section 811, and HOME—that make affordable, accessible, community-based housing possible for people with disabilities. A huge thank you to our co-hosts The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law, @nciladvocacy, New Disabled South, and Autistic Self Advocacy Network and speakers Kim Johnson, Deborah Thrope, Gregory Robinson, MPH, Jennifer Mathis, and Alía Fierro, MRP for coming together for last week’s webinar.
