🌊 In Memory of Dean Akiyama 🌱 The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) joins the global aquaculture community in mourning the loss of Dr. Dean Akiyama, a pioneer whose work in aquaculture left a lasting impact across Asia and beyond. Dean was a true trailblazer during his time with American Soybean Association International Marketing (ASA-IM) in Singapore, where his passion for science-driven innovation helped shape the future of aquaculture. His expertise in shrimp nutrition and his early advocacy for the use of soy in aquaculture feeds was foundational in transforming how the industry approached feed formulation. His knowledge-sharing through the development of technical bulletins and industry engagement played a crucial role in supporting the rapid growth of the shrimp industry. Beyond his technical contributions, Dean will be remembered for his generosity, vision, and deep commitment to advancing global food security through collaboration and science. We honor his legacy and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the many in the aquaculture community who had the privilege of working with him. His impact will be felt for generations to come. #USSoy #DeanAkiyama #Aquaculture #Shrimp #Aquafeed

Is soybean meal being undervalued in swine rations? New research suggests producers might be leaving money on the table without U.S. Soy. Dr. David Rosero's groundbreaking presentation at Soy Connext 2025 revealed "The Soy Effect.” His research highlights four evidence-based pillars showing that soybean meal delivers far more value than traditional formulations recognize, including: ✅ Energy boost: Recent studies show soybean meal provides 82-125% of corn's energy value (not the traditional 77%) ✅ Functional benefits: Anti-inflammatory compounds that can reduce mortality during disease challenge "If we let the pigs tell us the story, we can get more value from high-quality ingredients," says Dr. Rosero, a professor at Iowa State University. His research reveals U.S. Soy offers consistency and proven performance. Ready to unlock hidden profitability? 🐟 Today’s consumers don’t just want to know what’s in their seafood – they want to know the story behind it. As seafood becomes more central to global food systems, buyers are asking deeper questions about sustainability, nutrition, and sourcing. They’re forming opinions long before they reach the grocery store, and they’re looking for answers in new places, from TikTok to Instagram to trusted peers online. This shift changes how the aquaculture sector should communicate. Producers, exporters, and industry stakeholders have an opportunity to connect with consumers in more direct, transparent ways – by translating technical practices into relatable stories, showing the people behind the product, and building trust through clarity, not complexity. 👉 Read how USSEC is turning values into messages that resonate: https://loom.ly/U0icVlY #USSoy
