What a great couple of days! From team building to big-picture visions, our USTA Foundation retreat in Orlando was a great reminder of the impact we all make together. Celebrating a great year and looking forward to everything to come in 2026! Couldn’t ask for a better team! 💙 #USTAFoundation
About us
The mission of the USTA Foundation is to change lives through the powerful combination of tennis and education. Using this powerful combination, we help serve up dreams for under-resourced youth. The USTA Foundation is a 501 c(3) charitable organization incorporated in 1994 as the philanthropic entity of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). USTA Foundation uses the sport of tennis as a vehicle to help under-resourced youth become more engaged in school and learning with the goal of succeeding in tennis and in life. To that end, we support programs nationwide that leverage tennis and education to help those in need, primarily through the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network. The NJTL network features more than 270 chapters that reach over 130,000 youth on an annual basis, providing free or low-cost tennis and education programming to the 50 largest markets in the U.S. - nurturing future leaders and enabling kids in need to succeed on the court, in the classroom and in life. We raise money to support these life-changing programs through donations and special fundraisers held throughout the year, including the US Open Opening Night Gala, Pro-Am Events, Fantasy Tennis Camp and by connecting with other philanthropic and strategic partners. Our efforts are making a difference. To date, we have awarded more than $64 million in program services, grants and scholarships to hundreds of programs, benefitting thousands of children and adults through tennis, education and health curricula. It’s the kind of difference that translates into more fulfilled and happier individuals and better, more vital communities. Your generous donations allow us to continue to assist in this great work. And with your continued support, we can continue to serve up dreams – helping so many make theirs come true.

“We’re going to be able to go into more schools, hire and train more coaches, improve facilities, and support families. The sum is, it’s going to allow us to scale with quality,” said Udai Tambar, NYJTL President & CEO in a recent New York Amsterdam News article highlighting our role as a USTA Foundation Community Impact Hub committed to expanding access to tennis and education in under-resourced communities. It’s not often you get to see kids’ lives change in real time. This week, Roger Federer, Yannick Noah, and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie joined Youth Tennis Advantage to inaugurate newly resurfaced courts at one of our core sites. The joy on our kids’ faces is something no one in attendance will forget. The day reflected the dedication, over decades, of YTA coaches, staff, parents, volunteers, board members, and long-time generous supporters like The Olympic Club Foundation. We are deeply grateful to the Laver Cup, Mercedes-Benz, and the USTA Foundation for their partnership in making this event possible. Moments like this feel like the spark of something bigger. The question now on our mind: how do we build on this momentum to create even more opportunities for under-resourced youth through tennis? You could help us answer that, whether you’re in San Francisco or not. Programs like YTA exist in communities across the United States through the NJTL and USTA Foundation network, and in cities around the world. Wherever you are, seek them out. Volunteer your time, share what you can, and spread the word. At YTA, we’ll continue to put kids at the center of everything we do across San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, and Hunters Point — and hopefully in more places in the near future. This morning, the USTA Foundation had the incredible honor of ringing the NASDAQ opening bell in New York City alongside 22 young people from our tri-state programs: Kings County Tennis League, New York Junior Tennis & Learning, and HARLEM JUNIOR TENNIS AND EDUCATION PROGRAM INC. During her remarks at Nasdaq, our CEO, Ginny Ehrlich, shared, “These are the programs that exemplify the future. They exemplify hope. They exemplify opportunity.” It was an inspiring and special morning celebrating the power of tennis, education and mentorship to transform lives. We’re proud to work alongside our community-based partners, reaching more than 200,000 young people across the country and helping create brighter futures through the sport we love. 🌟 #USTAFoundation #NJTL

Transforming lives, on and off the court. Together with the legendary family of Venus and Serena Williams, we are proud to launch the Williams Family Excellence Program–a transformative initiative that will support young people from under-resourced communities with the academic support, career pathways, and mentorship opportunities to prepare them to live their best lives both on and off the court. With a goal of reaching more than 2,500 young people ages 13 to 25 by the year 2035, the program will focus on post-secondary education and career development, aiming to unlock doors that too often remain closed—using tennis as a powerful catalyst for change.👏 For more info: http://bit.ly/4p62aOe #USTAFoundation #WilliamsFamilyExcellenceProgram

Game. Set. Learn! This summer, Highlights has teamed up with the USTA Foundation to deliver a joyful, screen-free experience to kids and families at one of tennis’s most iconic events! Together, we’ve created a special edition, tennis-themed mini magazine that’s being distributed to 30,000 young fans and their families throughout the US Open. Attendees can pick up their copy at the Arthur Ashe Legacy booth on the Queens tournament grounds. The magazine is packed with puzzles, games, tennis-themed brainteasers, and inspiring stories that spotlight the legendary Arthur Ashe, and other rising American tennis stars, all to spark curiosity and bring families together around a shared love of learning, play, and tennis. A special thank you to Gilead Sciences for sponsoring the magazine. The 8-month USTA Foundation Essay Contest presented by Deloitte project wrapped up last week and was a special one. This year, we focused solely on high school students, aligning the contest with our broader work around postsecondary preparedness. I had the opportunity of co-leading with Lupe Vega, who did an incredible job from start to finish. She drove the train; I just helped keep things on the track. I am also grateful for Lori Ogden, Sara Rizzi, Mark Embuscado, Victoria Chiesa, Jessica Kruskamp, and our summer interns, Valerie M. and Christina Ahn. And a big thank you to our partners at Deloitte, who continue to be extraordinary champions for young people. It was an inspiring week celebrating the essay contest winners —remarkable young people with bright futures ahead.
