VDACS and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 3 announce the first-ever signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize their partnership and expand their collaborative activities related to agricultural practices that benefit the environment, compliance programs, outreach, training, communication, and education. The five-year agreement emphasizes a shared commitment between EPA and VDACS to well-managed, sustainable farms that produce food for local communities and a clean environment for everyone to enjoy. The event featured an On-Farm Readiness Review, providing education on the Produce Safety Rule, and discussions centering on upcoming agricultural water regulations and how collaboration between state, federal, and industry partners helps farmers meet food safety standards while keeping produce safe for consumers.
