I just returned to my desk after a ride-along with Jackie, a Via Mobility Services rider — and what a meaningful and uplifting experience it was! This year, instead of a traditional annual review meeting in the office, I asked to join a ride-along to better understand the impact of Via’s services from the rider’s perspective. Riding with Jackie to her eye doctor appointment gave me a firsthand look at how vital Via's services are. Jackie shared how being connected to both Via and Meals on Wheels enriches her life and allows her to remain independent at home: “I was diagnosed with cancer and lost my sight in the same year. I would not be able to live independently without the support of Via. The drivers really go above and beyond to take care of me, and I love the social interaction too!” – Jackie I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend time with Jackie and see the heart of Via’s mission in action. I also appreciated the chance to spend time with Via’s incredible staff, sharing ideas and offering coaching on fundraising strategies.
