Today is World Mental Health Day. Take a moment to prioritize your well-being - whether that means checking in with a colleague, practicing self-care, or simply pausing to take a deep breath. Whether you’re a parent managing a child’s physical or behavioral challenges, an adult caring for an aging parent, or supporting a loved one through illness or disability, the weight of the responsibilities of caregiving can feel enormous. It’s important that caregivers know how to protect their own mental health while caring for their loved ones. As #SuicidePreventionMonth wraps up, and we look ahead to #WorldMentalHealthDay and National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month in October, Vibrant leaders Wendy Martinez Farmer and Jantra Coll, Psy.D. recently collaborated with Behavioral Health News to highlight some of the mental health risk factors that caregivers face, and how they can cope and find support. Since June, Vibrant has proudly served Staten Island through the borough's first-ever Family and Youth Peer Support Services (FYPS) program. Earlier this month, we officially celebrated the grand opening of the new community office alongside City officials, community leaders, and neighbors. The expansion marks an important step in Vibrant's ongoing work to broaden access to free, culturally responsive support for youth and families navigating emotional and behavioral health challenges. Thank you to all our incredible speakers and neighbors who came out to celebrate this important moment with us, including New York State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and New York City Councilmember Kamilah Hanks.
