“As an Art Director, my role is to collaborate with the Production Designer and understand the directors’ vision for the film’s locations. I help the Visual Development team interpret that vision by defining the design language, mood, and key story moments. Once the designs are finalized, I work closely with the Environment team to ensure they understand the concepts and can translate the designs into the 3D world. It’s so rewarding to see the environment designs come to life with texture and lighting!” Connect with Limei next week at Lightbox Expo! "My advice to those attending Lightbox Expo is don’t come to network, come to make friends. In other words, don’t build professional connections, build relationships that just so happen to be professional. When meeting a professional for the first time, try to keep it brief but relevant. Read their body language to ensure they’re engaged and do indeed have time to talk. Introduce yourself, what you do, let them know how they’ve inspired you, and ask if it’s okay to connect on socials. If there is time to chat, have questions prepared to ask them. Don’t ask questions you already know the answer to but thoughtful questions that only this professional can answer for you. Waiting in line for a panel or at a booth admiring the same content is a great way to meet peers with common interests. Don’t be afraid to strike up a convo with a stranger over shared programming of interest. If you two hit it off, exchange socials or even grab lunch together." "The most rewarding parts about what I do are the moments where we are truly collaborating! I love it when the energy is up and we’re all working together just trying to make each other laugh/make the story as good as it can possibly be. My advice for new artists is to share as much as you can with your peers and mentors. Don’t get stuck holding and hiding something too closely to your chest. Our jobs are all about communication. It gets less scary the more you practice it." Connect with Hillary next week at Lightbox Expo! Learn more http://di.sn/6003GoVVh

"As an animator I am responsible for the on-screen performance of our characters and the goal is always to create a believable compelling performance and create the illusion of life. Working on something that so many people can relate to is amazing, but on a day-to day basis I really love working with so many people from different departments together to bring our final image to the screen. The people are the best and seeing everyone's talent is breathtaking. My advice for new artists is to be critical with your own work. No matter how good you are, there is always room to improve and being able to look at your work and to identify areas that you could push yourself to get better I think is crucial to grow as an artist." “As the Associate Production Designer for Zootopia 2, my primary responsibility is creating the color script for the film. The color script serves as a visual roadmap, guiding the emotions and mood of the story to enhance the narrative envisioned by our directors, Jared Bush and Byron Howard. In crafting the color script, I work closely with our Production Designer, Cory Loftis, and our cinematographers, Tyler Kupferer and Daniel Rice. The most rewarding aspect of my job is collaborating with incredibly talented artists and witnessing the movie's creation from start to finish.” Connect with Griselda next week at Lightbox Expo!
