New research on 389 PGA Tour athletes across 521 tournaments (2017–2025) shows just how powerful consistency is. We looked at four key metrics: • Recovery • Resting Heart Rate (RHR) • Sleep Consistency • Sleep Duration 📊 The findings were clear: Every 10-point boost in Recovery correlated with ~0.5 strokes fewer per round. That’s 2 strokes over a 4-day stretch—the difference between fading and finishing first. Golfers who maintain a regular sleep schedule weren’t just more rested—they played 0.4 strokes better per round and made fewer critical mistakes. Longer, higher-quality sleep, lower RHR, and higher HRV were all associated with more “strokes gained”—especially in high-pressure moments. ⏱ Why this matters beyond golf: Because what we saw in athletes applies everywhere. Recovery and consistency sharpen decision-making, sustain focus, and make excellence repeatable. You don’t win by having one good day.
