📰 Home office use stays strong in Germany – despite a slight decline since 2021 📊 According to the latest #Microcensus 2024, 22.7% of employees worked from home at least once over four weeks – only 0.7% less than the peak of 2021! Although the percentage has dropped slightly on average since the later days of the pandemic in 2021, remote work appears to be well-nested in most German States, where this new form of work impacts all aspects of life on a daily basis, and it is growing in Eastern Germany. #Bavaria (#Bayern) recorded a home office rate of 24.5%, compared to 35.6% in the city/state of #Hamburg or 10.9% in Sachsen-Anhalt. 🇩🇪 The German Case Study of #WinWin4WorkLife delves deeper into the matter of remote work in the state of Bavaria, focusing on the #Munich Metropolitan Area. This area, including cities like #Augsburg, #Ingolstadt, #Landshut and #Rosenheim, is known for its thriving industries attracting top-notch talent and highly skilled workers. But there is a catch – it is also one of Germany’s priciest places to rent a new home. This led to a city-flight to the #suburbs and neighboring regions, where many workers found cheaper housing. But it also means an increase in daily commute, with overcrowded trains and more emissions as a result. Could remote work be the answer here? The German Case Study intends to map this impact and is well underway, with the Employer study finished and the Employee study starting soon. About us
WinWin4WorkLife is a pioneering endeavor aimed at deepening interdisciplinary understanding of the social, economic, and spatial impacts of Remote Work Arrangements (RWA). Rooted in the transformative landscape of post-pandemic work dynamics, the project strives to elucidate the complexities surrounding remote work, bridging insights from employers and employees alike. With a strategic focus on five European countries - Germany, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Slovakia - WinWin4WorkLife embarks on a data-driven exploration. Through meticulous data collection encompassing diverse welfare systems, housing and labor markets, and cultural contexts, the project seeks to unravel the multifaceted dimensions of remote work. Central to WinWin4WorkLife's mission is the establishment of typologies delineating the diverse spectrum of RWA adoption among employers and employees. By considering factors such as urban-rural dynamics, skill shortages, health indicators, and digital proficiency, the project aims to offer nuanced perspectives crucial for informed policy formulation. An integral component of the project involves the development of sophisticated spatial forecasting models. These models, spanning urban, rural, regional, and cross-border areas, provide invaluable insights into the potential spatial and environmental ramifications of various RWA scenarios. Such insights are poised to empower policymakers, researchers, and communities to navigate the evolving landscape of remote work effectively. Driven by a consortium of 15 partners across Europe, WinWin4WorkLife represents a collaborative effort dedicated to fostering a harmonious equilibrium in Remote Work Arrangements. Led by the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), the project underscores a commitment to advancing knowledge and shaping evidence-based policies to navigate the transformative realm of remote work in Europe.

💡 For many employers who don’t allow remote work, productivity remains the key concern. 💡 📊 Over a third (36%) believe employees would be less productive if they worked from home — a reflection, perhaps, of an ongoing trust gap. 📈 Yet, among employers who do offer remote work, almost half (47%) report no change in productivity, and 30% even see an increase. 📉 And here’s the twist: even in the non-remote camp, 16% admit that remote work could actually boost productivity. 💬 Do you want to get involved in the future of remote work? 🏠💻 Remote work in Slovakia: advantage or hidden threat? A new survey by Trexima Bratislava, conducted within the WinWin4WorkLife project, reveals that 57% of Slovak companies allow home office — but only those with clear internal rules turn it into a true benefit. Firms embracing remote work report higher productivity, well-being, and employee satisfaction, while lack of flexibility makes recruitment harder. Yet, 9 out of 10 employers offer no financial support for home office expenses. These insights show that remote work is not just a perk — it’s a mirror of company culture. #WinWin4WorkLife #RemoteWork #HomeOffice #HR #Wellbeing #FutureOfWork #Slovakia
#homeoffice #praca #HR #benefity #wellbeing

A very interesting article in Forbes about the mistrust around hard work and productivity. Could lingering distrust around remote work undermine its potential, with many leaders defaulting to presenteeism rather than outcomes? Journalist Barnaby Lashbrooke outlines this mistrust can be countered through transparent measurement, trust-based management, and shifting focus from hours logged to real impact. Ultimately, the article calls for a mindset shift: remote work isn’t a productivity problem — it’s a trust and leadership challenge. WinWin4WorkLife’s Employer survey studies the employers’ sentiment towards many aspects of remote work, including productivity. Early results indicate that employers who don’t allow remote work often believe it harms productivity, while those who permit it generally experience productivity gains. #ww4wl #EUHorizon https://lnkd.in/gR5cFAqa

Thank you to the 512 employers who participated in the Employer Survey in Slovakia! It’s been a great journey, and thanks to you, we’ll be able to compare the results with countries such as Luxembourg, Germany, Portugal, and Finland. What interesting insights did we discover in Slovakia? • Organizations that use remote work more often report higher employee satisfaction and lower stress levels. • The most frequently mentioned challenges of remote work include more demanding team coordination and negative perceptions of work monitoring. • 76% of respondents provide benefits to their employees — most of them are organizations that use remote work. • 64% of respondents who currently do not use remote work in their organization do not expect this to change within the next five years.
