“Engaged employees show up, they stay, and they win.” – Tonya Lucas According to Gallup, 70% of engagement stems from the manager. When managers aren’t equipped to coach, connect, and clarify direction, performance slips, and so does retention. Here are three intentional shifts that help managers strengthen engagement every day: ◼️ Be present—and consistent. Show up regularly and intentionally so employees feel seen and supported. ◼️ Align coaching to the role. Use insights to define what success looks like for each employee and guide them toward it. ◼️ Start growth conversations early. Don’t wait for performance reviews. High performers stay engaged when they can see their next chapter taking shape. 📘 Explore more in our Manager Effectiveness Toolkit. https://lnkd.in/ezt4YssM #ManagerEffectiveness #EmployeeEngagement #RetentionStartsWithManagers #LeadershipMatters #HRTech

“Keep doing what you’re doing” feels supportive—but it isn’t enough to help people grow. In this clip, Tonya Lucas explains why employees need more than vague praise to stay motivated and keep developing. Here’s how managers can give feedback that makes a real impact: 👉 Connect feedback to specific behaviors that matter in the role 👉 Pair recognition with clear direction for what’s next 👉 Give every employee a simple next step to build on their strengths Feedback should inspire progress, not leave employees wondering what comes next. Half of All 1:1s Don’t Deliver Value. Managers are trying to coach and connect, but without the right structure, it’s hard to turn those meetings into momentum. Here are three small shifts that lead to stronger performance outcomes: 1️⃣ Make the cadence consistent. Weekly or biweekly 1:1s reduce dread, build trust, and give feedback the timing it needs to stick. When meetings are sporadic, they lose their impact and signal to your team that development isn’t a priority. 2️⃣ Build the agenda together. One-way meetings create passive participants. When both manager and employee co-own the agenda, it invites alignment, ownership, and coaching that feels relevant. 3️⃣ Make it personal—not just tactical. Every employee brings different motivators and challenges. Personalizing your 1:1s (even a little) can unlock stronger relationships and better performance. These aren’t overhauls. They’re easy-to-apply shifts that fit into what you’re already doing. #ManagerEffectiveness #EmployeeDevelopment #CoachingCulture #Leadership #HRTech
