The wave of starvation in #Gaza can only be stopped with a massive scale up of assistance. 🔴 At least 100 trucks a day 🔴 with essential food, nutrition and lifesaving aid 🔴 to everyone, across the entire Strip. There's not a moment to lose.

Everyone has the right to assistance without fear or harm. Since January 2024, WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain has served as the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) PSEAH Champion, bringing critical attention to the need for proactive, accountable leadership in the protection from sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH). In 2025, she extended her role for another year — reinforcing WFP’s commitment to safety, dignity and respect for all. Through the IASC Championship, WFP continues to drive collective action across the humanitarian system — building a culture of trust, transparency and protection. A new food security analysis confirms 2 out of the 3 official famine thresholds have been breached in parts of #Gaza. The TheIPCinfo is the global standard for measuring food insecurity. It is a jointly agreed, evidence-based system used in over 30 countries. Even in war zones, data continues to flow through field teams, mobile surveys and satellite imagery. The IPC ranks situations from: 1️⃣ - None/Minimal 2️⃣ - Stressed 3️⃣ - Crisis 4️⃣ - Emergency 5️⃣ - Famine – when people are starving and death is imminent. 📉 Today, nearly 500,000 people in Gaza, nearly a quarter of the population, are in IPC Phase 5. The rest face emergency levels of hunger (Phase 4). 🔺 39% are going days without food. 🔺 Child malnutrition has quadrupled in just two months. 🔺 Children are dying from hunger and lack of access to care. This is not a future risk - it is a present catastrophe. Time is running out to mount a full-scale humanitarian response.

🚨 Hunger remains unacceptably high: The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2025 🚨 In 2024, up to 720 million people experienced chronic hunger. Despite a modest reduction in overall food insecurity, conflict, weather extremes and economic instability continue to drive hunger at alarming levels. Low-income countries are particularly hard-hit by food price inflation. A 10% rise in food prices led to: 🔸 a 3.5% increase in moderate or severe food insecurity 🔸 a 1.8% increase in severe food insecurity Without decisive action, 512 million people could be chronically hungry by 2030—nearly 60% in Africa. 📢 FAO, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), UNICEF, World Health Organization and WFP are sounding the alarm. Now is the time for action. We need these measures to allow for a surge in food assistance and enable the restart of food distributions, bakeries, and hot meals programs. The World Food Programme has teams on the ground and enough food to reach people in need across the Gaza Strip at scale.
