The group received an in-depth look at our comprehensive programs and initiatives, gaining a deeper understanding of the critical role the Y plays in strengthening our community. A special highlight of the visit was a tour revealing the ongoing progress of our new Healthy Living Center! Huge thanks to the Collier Community Foundation for their incredible support! Their grant has helped us serve 32 middle school and 16 high school students through our Youth in Government program this year. But that's not all! The funding also supported our Middle School Camp with 79 attendees, Teen Nights that brought together an average of 75 participants, and a Counselors in Training program for 10 dedicated teens. Through these initiatives, our youth are gaining crucial leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills in a safe and supportive environment. We're so proud to see them develop a greater sense of accountability and respect for diverse viewpoints. Employee Spotlight: Meet Louisa Mai! Get ready to sweat with our amazing new instructor, Louisa Mai! Originally from Clemson, SC, Louisa recently graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Environmental Science. But don't let that fool you – she's a powerhouse in the gym! Louisa grew up as a competitive swimmer, where she discovered her passion for group workouts. In college, she dove into HIIT and cycle classes, quickly becoming hooked on the energy of group fitness. Now, she's an ACE certified group fitness instructor with certifications in Schwinn Cycle, TRX, and YogaFit! Catch Louisa teaching her strength training class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 PM at the South Campus in Marco Island! Fun Fact: Louisa moved to Marco Island in April for a sea turtle internship with the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. When she's not at the Y, you can find her out on the water or lost in a good book!
