Lighting with Sky Objects

- [Man] In addition to the lights that we have in our scene we're now going to look at another method of illumination called image based lighting. This allows for highly detailed real world lighting to be used to light the scene. And so we can add image based lighting by creating the material and then assigning it to either a large sphere or a sky object is commonly used. And that's preferable to adding the image to the environment channel of each material. So, why are we doing this? Well, we have these reflective materials in our scene but no environment to reflect in them and so the materials themselves look pretty dull. And so when working with reflective materials you do need an environment. So let's just create a new material. And we'll double click to open it up in the material editor. I'm going to turn off the color channel, turn off the reflectance, and turn on the luminance channel. In the luminance channel, I'm going to click here and we'll load in an image. Now…
