- [Instructor] Let's look at a simple example of how we can assess whether a data set is a good candidate for linear regression. We have a set of data here that describes sales of a particular product. Let's imagine we're an online retailer and we're selling products, maybe it's a new type of product. And we have gone for a week offering different discounts offered, and depending on the discount that we offer on a particular day, we sell different numbers of units. And what we see here in this data, in column A, we have the discount, or the percent of discount offered. We offer anywhere from no discount up through a 30% off discount. And then associated with each discount is the number of units we sold that day. So we can definitely see just looking down the list. We see that with no discount offered, we sold 10,000 units.
