The role of the CNCF
- In this video, we'll talk about the role of the CNCF in Cloud Native. So CNCF, or Cloud Native Computing Foundation, is a product within Linux Foundation. That's because Linux Foundation already had a huge experience in open-source technology. CNCF hosts different products that are relevant for cloud native. And to indicate the current status of a product, the product can go through three different phases. It can be sandboxed, incubated, or graduated. So let's talk about these sandbox projects. A sandbox project is a product that is in a very early stage. It shows significant code maturity and community involvement, and it is adopted by CNCF because it offers unrealized potential. Sandbox projects receive minimal funding. They are subject to removal every 12 months, so they really need to prove themselves. The next stage is where a product goes incubated.
