- Breakthrough and learning moments are the more positive routes you can take after being vulnerable. But, what happens when a negative experience makes a leader say, I knew this was going to happen, I'm never going to be vulnerable again? These are called fixed moments, and they should be avoided at all costs. They are leadership killers, because they keep you from evolving or growing. Remember what I said early on in this course. You cannot grow without acknowledging the gaps that you have. There is no growth without vulnerability. These fixed moments are what turn people into those stereotypical leaders we talked about. In fixed moments, a leader is cementing themselves into a negative place that prevents them from being vulnerable in the future. When you do this, you don't protect yourself so much as you end up feeling bitter, resentful, and distrustful of others. This can then be damaging to your career, and of course, those around you.
