- The most important thing to keep in mind about storytelling is that there's a beginning, a middle, and an end. You know, I moved to Ireland from the United States, and I was often told, "You know, we're a nation of storytellers." I said, "Yes, but the stories have to end." So here's the final two points about storytelling when you are trying to connect to a business audience. And that is your lesson that you learned from the scene that you set, the friction that you had to overcome, or you didn't overcome whatever that outcome was, what you learned that takeaway is really important. And then the final component is the most important of all because this is the takeaway that has meaning to the audience. If someone's listening to your story they don't want to just hear what it meant for you. They want to know what's in it for them.
