Utilizing the decomposition tree
- [Narrator] Power BI offers several smart narrative standard visuals that leverage AI behind the scenes to run analysis for us. The decomposition tree helps us drill down into levels of our data to explore root cause analysis. We'll first add our decomposition tree visual to our report page. To make this visual work, we need two field input types. The analyze field is where you'll put the metric you want to analyze, which must be a measure or an aggregate. The explain by input is where you'll add one or more of the dimensions you want to drill down into. We'll add our generation megawatt hours field as a sum to the analyze field, and we'll add the fields for the energy source and utility to the explain by field. We can select any of the drill down fields to gain understanding of its contribution to the total megawatt hours generated. To drill into the first layer, let's select the plus icon that appears next to the bar. We can drill down into any these fields in any order regardless…
