- You have meticulously planned your board presentation, but that morning, the industry's governing body announces regulations which directly impact your company. You barely begin your presentation when the CFO leaves the room to take a call and the rest of the C-suite are scrolling on their phones for updates on the situation. Trust me, I've seen this play out. How can you regain your audience's attention? Here are a few strategies to deal with the most common distractions. Audience multitasking. It is sometimes impossible to capture executive's attention if other pressing matters are distracting them. I can only offer you suggestions that will bring attention back to your message. Comment by saying something like, "If you look at these key findings," or say, "As you can see, the sales trends indicate."
