- Proactively addressing age equity and de-emphasizing generational stereotypes is crucial because it increases a sense of belonging and productivity in the workplace. I'm sure you're familiar with generational labels such as Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, or Gen Z. We hear a lot about the traits of those in these groups and how they differ from one another, but there is one thing all of these generations have in common. They are all made up. They are all arbitrarily defined. And they're all often spoken of in a way that perpetuates ageism. Generational labels aimed to group millions upon millions of people together, believing that they all share common likes, dislikes, behaviors, personality traits, and experiences.
