How to convert a video to a GIF

- Most modern cinemagraphs are done in the H.264 or MPEG4 format. That's because it's higher quality and tends to be smaller file size. But, if you're trying to embed a cinemagraph directly into an email, or you're using an older type system, you might need to go to a legacy format of a GIF or JIF. One way to do this is with Adobe Photoshop. What we can do is take our finished movie and drag that onto our Photoshop icon, or choose file open from within Photoshop. It will launch and open up the QuickTime movie. In this case, it's automatically in the timeline. Now, choose file, export, save for web. This'll bring up a new dialogue, where you'll specify some options for output. A 2000 by 2000 pixel GIF is probably way more than you need. GIF files aren't particularly efficient, and they're usually going to be delivered at smaller dimensions. So let's adjust the dimensions and the image quality. Right now, it's very large at…
