- [Narrator] Adding subheadings to your writing is a great way to break up the page and make the material easier to understand. And using lists, tables, and even charts to rework long sentences or paragraphs is another great way to achieve that same plain language goal. These visual elements break information into clear structured bite-sized pieces. For example, let's say you want to explain the best olive oil for different cooking methods. A bulleted list for each example leaves more white space, so the material is less visually overwhelming, and the structure of the list makes it easier to read than one long paragraph that discusses all the pairings, even if you use some of the principles of plain language, like breaking material up into short sentences.
