Last week the Blue Green Connector the Lancaster County STEM Alliance hosted a 2-day immersive workshop for middle and high school educators to steep them in the science, history, and innovation behind the Blue Green Connector—Lancaster’s transformational stream restoration project along the Little Conestoga Creek. With guest speakers from LandStudies, Lancaster Clean Water Partners , the Chesapeake Watershed Initiative via Franklin & Marshall College , Science in Motion via Elizabethtown College, and LANCASTER LEBANON IU-13 EDUCATION SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS - our educators had a collaborative, interactive day in the field, followed by a day of curriculum building to produce ready-to-use lessons for the classroom aligned with PA STEELS standards. This experience reinforced how place-based learning can transform STEM education — connecting PA STEELS standards to the living systems right in our own backyard. Thanks to our incredible partners and educators, students across Lancaster County will soon be exploring lessons rooted in restoration, sustainability, and innovation along the Blue Green Connector.
