Insurgent activity continued in Muidumbe district, where militants attacked security forces, targeted civilians, and disrupted traffic on the N380 highway. On 21 October, Islamic State Mozambique (ISM) ambushed a police convoy near Xitaxi village, killing the driver of the lead vehicle with a rocket-propelled grenade and halting traffic for several hours. The attack sparked panic in nearby villages, with some residents fleeing. Days later, five fishermen were captured and beheaded near Nguri Lagoon, prompting reported Defense and Security Forces bombardments targeting insurgent positions as ISM sustains its presence in the area.
