Islamic State #Mozambique (ISM) continued to target civilians in Mocímboa da Praia and Metuge districts. Between 14 and 20 October, IS claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in Mocímboa da Praia, including the beheading of a security guard near Palma district and the burning of homes in Mbau. Further south in Metuge, sightings of militants prompted residents to flee Impiri and Intutupue, followed by the beheading of two civilians on 21 October. ISM fighters were also reported in Quissanga district, raiding a village near Natugo before retreating into surrounding forests.
