This marks the vessel’s first monopile campaign using its new pile gripper, demonstrating performance on par with industry benchmarks. Extended transit due to far distance to the marshaling port and weather impact slightly prolonged the total campaign duration, meant the execution was slightly slower than the fastest campaigns seen in the industry. 🏗️ 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧 The secondary steel installation was performed by MPI Adventure, following the growing industry trend of separating monopile and TP/secondary steel installation. This approach helps avoid slowdowns in monopile operations by allowing lighter tasks to be performed independently. The secondary steel scope progressed at a similar pace, averaging 2.3 days per position, including 1.3 days on-site. The Crossing Group utilized the skills and expertise of our four unique trenchless divisions to help deliver long-distance renewable energy from Canada to the New York Metro area. This infrastructure project, known as the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE), involved the installation of transmission lines through wetlands, waterways, ecosystems, and communities across New York State. Our crews completed multiple installations using a mix of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and tunneling technologies to pass safely through these environments with minimal disruptions. We're incredibly proud to see the combined efforts of The HDD Company, The Crossing Company, The Tunneling Company, and The Trenchless Company contribute to the efficiency and sustainability of this ambitious project!

The Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) is set to deliver 1,250 megawatts of renewable hydropower from Canada to New York City beginning in spring of 2026. The 339-mile alignment includes more than 300 #HDD crossings with some 420,000 ft of conduit installed. The final segment, crossing under the East River from Randall’s Island to Astoria, Queens, connects the DC transmission line to the Astoria Converter Station. Two parallel pilots were drilled; each lined with more than 5,100 ft of 20-inch steel conduit. The pilots were completed as dual-parallel intersects with ParaTrack providing guidance on all four HDD’s.
