Promoting an “invisible” technology is never easy — but the results speak for themselves. This video from Alchemco Brazil shows a concrete slab with visible cracking that remains completely watertight after treatment with Enzymatic TechCrete Technology (ETT). When protection happens within the concrete, performance becomes visible where it matters most — in the field. #ETT #ConcreteDurability #Waterproofing #AlchemcoBrazil #Innovation #Infrastructure

🌿 Excited to share my latest publication! Our paper titled “Synergistic effect of physical modification and accelerated carbonation curing on the cementitious properties and carbon sequestration potential of biochar cement composites” has been published in the Journal of Sustainable Cement-Based Materials (Taylor & Francis). 🧱📘 🔗 [Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/gFy5RYpT] This work explores the utilization of stubble waste-derived biochar as a sustainable partial replacement for cement, focusing on how physical modification (ball milling and grinding) combined with accelerated carbonation curing (ACC) can enhance the mechanical properties, durability, and carbon sequestration potential of cementitious composites. The findings reveal that milled biochar, owing to its enhanced surface area and reactivity, significantly improves hydration, carbonation, and matrix densification—demonstrating its potential in advancing low-carbon and sustainable construction materials. Grateful to my supervisors Dr. Arpit Goyal - PhD, MICORR, AFHEA, Dr.Danie Roy A B., and Manpreet Singh for their invaluable guidance, mentorship, and constant encouragement throughout this research journey. 🙏 #Sustainability #Biochar #Cement #Research #CarbonSequestration #CircularEconomy #LowCarbonConcrete #GreenBuilding #MaterialsScience #Publication

Maryke Malan, head of the eMalahleni Water Reclamation Plant, presented on day 1 of the International Coal Preparation Congress. She shared how her team turned a complex operational challenge into an opportunity for innovation. One of the plant’s feeder sites began producing water that was more acidic and contained significantly higher iron concentrations than before, making it unsuitable for the facility’s original design parameters. Instead of implementing costly modifications, they applied principles more commonly used in municipal wastewater treatment and adapted the existing system to treat the altered chemistry. This approach restored process stability and allowed production to continue without making structural changes. Maryke represents a new generation of engineers and metallurgists who’re driving innovation and tackling challenges that were once considered too complex, costly or entrenched to solve.
