Community School Parks are official!   This week, Los Angeles Unified School District and City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks made history with a new Joint Powers Agreement that sustains the Community School Parks into the future. This agreement designates 10 school sites as Community School Parks, opening playgrounds and outdoor facilities to the public during non-school hours. This big win for LA communities wouldn't have been possible without the leadership of Office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust, LA Living Schoolyards Coalition, and the advocacy of partners Playworks, Woodcraft Rangers, and Center for Healing and Justice through Sport. We're just getting started! The LA Play Equity Coalition can't wait to  support the expansion of Community School parks districtwide.
