Bringing early-career researcher perspectives to the discussions of the UN Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) at its annual retreat in New York. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to conversations on open science, frontier AI, biotechnology, and ecosystems — bridging science and society through policy, and shaping the science–policy interface for the next generation of scientists. #OpenScience #ScienceForAll #TrustInScience #SciencePolicy #UN #ECRs
🌍 Bringing Science to the Heart of the UN 🔬 The Secretary-General António Guterres joined his Scientific Advisory Board and representatives from its network institutions for their annual retreat at UN Headquarters. Over two days, they agreed on language for a public Statement on Open Science, debated scientific briefing topics for the coming year, including frontier AI, biotechnology, and ecosystems, and set out a plan to connect their work with the UN leadership at the country level. There was also an event co-hosted by the Permanent Missions of Singapore and South Africa, on “Shaping a Strong Multilateral Future: Combatting Misinformation through Science and Technology” - that strengthened connections between scientists and the diplomatic community in New York.
