𝐄𝐒𝐆 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 – “𝐄𝐒𝐆 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡” Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the 𝗘𝗦𝗚 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 conference at the 𝗖𝗖𝗜 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼̂𝘁𝗲 𝗱’𝗔𝘇𝘂𝗿, a truly enriching discussion among IAE Nice (Graduate School of Management), Università degli Studi di Torino, Seed Capital Pro, and La French Tech Côte d'Azur. I’m deeply grateful to Prof. Ulrike Mayrhofer for the kind invitation and to Prof. 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿, 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗷𝗮𝗻𝘆, 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗳𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶, 𝗚𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼 𝗣𝘂𝗱𝗱𝘂, and 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘅 for their insightful contributions. The dialogue explored how #ESG frameworks can adapt to an era of #hypergrowth, #digitaltransformation, and geopolitical uncertainty, and how European companies can turn regulation into innovation. From the #TwinTransition to the ethical dilemmas of #dualuse technologies, and the role of #AI in ESG data governance, the discussions highlighted a crucial point: sustainability must be strategic, not just compliant. As part of my #DBA research on strategic management approaches to #SpaceSustainability, I was inspired by how these challenges echo those of the space sector: aligning ethics, technology, and governance toward a shared long-term vision. ESG, like sustainability in space, reminds us that innovation must stay within its orbit, human, responsible, and collective. #ESGTechTalks #Sustainability #Innovation #AI #ResponsibleGrowth #UniversityCotedAzur #FrenchTech #CircularEconomy #TechForGood #UlrikeMayrhofer #IAENice #UniversityofTurin #SeedCapitalPro

We were honored to attend the Toronto Global Forum 2025, where global leaders came together to discuss innovation, sustainability, and the future of AI. One of the most insightful sessions, led by Dr. Anne Marie Vaughan, CEO of Humber College, focused on how AI can accelerate progress in key sectors such as education, infrastructure, and public services. The key message? It’s not just about adopting technology — it’s about mastering it to create long-term value. Another core theme of the forum was sustainable development. Speakers emphasized that true innovation must balance economic growth with environmental responsibility. Companies across industries are rethinking strategies to ensure a greener, more resilient future. For Maxter Board, these discussions reaffirmed our mission — to help schools and educational institutions harness technology responsibly, with both innovation and sustainability in mind. #TorontoGlobalForum #DigitalTransformation #Sustainability #Innovation #FutureOfLearning #MaxterBoard

It was a pleasure to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Symposium in London yesterday. I came away with fresh perspectives, rich conversations, and renewed conviction about where we (as individuals, companies, and as a country) should be investing our energy. Some key takeaways include: 1. AI capabilities are not just automating tasks, but they're reshaping how we think, learn, and create. The question posed, “How will we think and act differently when AI is smarter than you?”, is not rhetorical. We must design systems and partnerships that amplify human strengths, not replace them. "It should be used to provide actionable insights, not answers" 2. The most resilient and dynamic ecosystems are those with entrepreneurs, government, academia, industry, and risk capital fully engaged. Entrepreneurs, academia and risk capital are more likely to engage in big innovation, whilst corporates, and government are far more likely to enjoy the safety of incremental innovation. Should this be the case? If not, how do we change that? 3. This may give away how I feel about the question above but innovation for sustainability (e.g. in aviation, energy, infrastructure) demands rethinking how systems are designed, rather than incremental tweaks. We need collaboration across disciplines (industry, policy, business) to build real impact, and given the time frame to reach net zero targets, for example, this needs to be at pace. 4. In the “Preparing for Tomorrow: People, Skills and Education” discussion, there was strong emphasis on lifelong learning, adaptability, and knowledge flows between institutions and industry, which is where programs like MIT's MISTI program is so key. There were sooo many more incredible takeaways from this event, and being a 'politics nerd', better understanding the effects of geopolitical tensions on not only trade, but innovation, and collaboration, was incredibly interesting, but a LinkedIn post can only be so long before people lose interest. If you were at the Symposium and we didn’t get a chance to connect, I’d love to hear what struck you the most. Let’s keep the conversation going.

𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮 During the 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 to California, Rombit’s General Manager for Europe, Wim Anrijs, joined a panel organized by Flanders Investment & Trade to discuss how smaller tech companies navigate innovation in a landscape dominated by Big Tech. Topics included the 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗦 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗠𝗘𝘀. Wim highlighted the importance of staying agile, acknowledging rather than fighting differences between EU and US, but also within the US itself, and 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹. Wim pointed out that one of the biggest opportunities - and challenges - for industrial innovators today lies in 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Collecting information is no longer the issue; making it actionable on the work floor is. Overall, a great opportunity and an insightful exchange on how innovators can make their mark beyond the Magnificent Seven ... and validated by interesting conversations during the town hall meeting that followed. #FlandersInCalifornia #FIT #Rombit #Innovation #SME #AI #DigitalSafety #EconomicMission #California

Technological sovereignty and the people´s abilities The European Commission´s 2026 work programme, presented under the title “Europe’s Independence Moment,” wants to achieve technological sovereignty for Europe. Several priorities are relevant to the world of work: the #QualityJobsRoadmap, the #AIAct, #skillsmobility and an #educationpackage. Together, these initiatives aim not only to strengthen Europe’s capacity to innovate, but also to empower its people to thrive in a #digitaleconomy. For those of us engaged in social dialogue, this moment carries both opportunity and responsibility. Technological independence will remain incomplete without the ability of workers and their representatives to understand, question, and co-shape the digital tools that increasingly mediate our professional lives. Recent experiences have shown how this can be achieved in practice. As a mentor in the Reshaping Work Fellowship, I had the privilege of engaging with young professionals examining AI’s ethical and economic implications. Their insights echoed those we hear in workplaces across Europe: How do we reconcile efficiency with fairness, data with dignity? Tilemachos Dafnis represented CESI at the SEISMEC General Assembly in Thessaloniki, where debates took on a concrete form. In the frame of this ambitious #Horizon project, researchers, companies, and CESI, are jointly developing ways to evaluate AI tools through human-centric criteria - transparency, explainability and, most of all, participation. CESI’s role in this project is to ensure that the workers’ perspective is integrated into these metrics from the very beginning. The same logic underpins the UNESCO–Oxford online course on AI in Government (https://oxsbs.link/unesco), a global initiative promoting competence, accountability, and inclusion in public-sector AI. The connection to Europe’s own agenda is: technology can only strengthen democracy at work when the people using it understand it. The Commission’s new work programme emphasises digital sovereignty - but sovereignty begins with literacy and trust. AI will only enhance productivity and resilience if it is rooted in a culture of participation. #Tradeunions, employers, and public institutions all share a responsibility to ensure that no one becomes a bystander in this transformation. Europe’s “Independence Moment” is therefore not only about technological capacity, but also about social capability - skills, rights, and confidence.
