𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰? 𓂀 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐞 discovered isn't in Europe, but Egypt! 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 (c. 14th century BCE) are clay tablets showing Egyptian Pharaohs negotiating trade and alliances. The diplomatic archive is one of technology's first gifts to statecraft. The 3,300-year-old Amarna Letters show that 𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧, 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥. This systematic record-keeping created institutional memory, allowing rulers to track old agreements - a function later perfected by the Venetians and now being redefined by AI-powered databases. From clay to cloud: the need to preserve diplomatic knowledge is a constant. How do military institutions use social media to shape narratives during crises? My latest study explores how the U.S. Department of Defense strategically used X during the 2023 Chinese Spy Balloon incident. By analyzing DoD tweets through agenda-building theory, the research uncovers how themes of national security, readiness, diplomacy, and decision-making were communicated to influence public perception in real time. This study highlights the growing role of digital platforms in institutional communication and public diplomacy.
