My top 3 takeaways from the Environmental Finance's Sustainable Debt Americas conference: - Today's market separates the opportunistic investors/issuers from the serious ones who are here for the long-haul. - Even if green/sustainability instruments don't produce big greeniums or coupon savings, they positively influence corporate behaviour by creating paper trails & audit processes, incentivizing voluntary disclosures, getting C-suite buy-in for net-zero plans, etc. - All eyes are on the municipal bond market, especially for resilience/adaptation. It's time for munis to shine! And special thanks to Thatyanne G. from Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking for organizing our LatAm-focused panel and my fellow panelists Rodrigo Fonseca and Matthew Christ. LatAm will continue to be a leader in sustainable finance -- it is blessed with relatively low-carbon grids and sophisticated capital markets. LatAm can tackle our toughest challenges (e.g., industrial decarb, 24x7 clean power, etc.) to show other regions what "good" looks like.

How Australia is pioneering decarbonisation clarity. Australia’s Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, launched earlier this year, is leading the world with an intentional, science-based focus on the transition to net zero emissions. In an exclusive CEFC Green Files interview, Australian Sustainable Finance Institute (ASFI) inaugural CEO Kristy Graham provides insights into the evolution of the taxonomy, as well as outlining how she came to understand the power of finance to solve sustainability issues. Graham outlines the “colossal” collaborative effort behind the taxonomy’s evolution, which brought together experts in finance, including the CEFC, sustainability and a range of key economic sectors. She describes the taxonomy, which is getting set to move beyond its pilot stage, as an opportunity identifier, for both domestic and international investors. Clear, science-based frameworks are helping Australia direct finance towards genuine transition and resilience outcomes. In this Clean Energy Finance Corporation Green Files interview, ASFI CEO Kristy Graham reflects on the collaboration behind Australia’s Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, and its role as a practical tool for investors and policymakers. “It was a colossal effort, but we’re now seeing that Australia’s taxonomy is more fit for purpose than others that haven't had such a collaborative development phase.” “Investors and other capital allocators want to know exactly what activities and assets will enable them to reach net zero commitments, and at what point. That's what the taxonomy does.” #SustainableFinance #Taxonomy #ClimateResilience

🌿 Finance can be a force for nature — and it’s already happening. Our recently launched A-Track primer reveals how banks, investors and insurers can avoid harm and help restore nature through the everyday decisions they make about what they finance, underwrite and invest in — at scale and with commercial viability. Packed with real-world examples and practical steps, the primer is designed to inspire and empower practitioners to act now, using the tools and processes they already have. Key insights from the below carousel: 💡 The four powerful levers of change — corporate stewardship, financial decision-making, incentives, and policy engagement — all within reach of financial institutions. 🧭 The questions and pain points we’ve heard directly from practitioners. 🌱 Why greening finance — not just financing green — is where great systemic and positive impact for nature lies. 👉 Read Scaling finance for nature: a primer on what financial institutions are doing today: https://lnkd.in/ecR-DJu2 💬 On a personal note: This project brought together my long-standing expertise and passion for nature and biodiversity with my more recent experience in impact evaluation and industry engagement — a highly rewarding intersection of science, practice and finance for real-world change. Centre for Sustainable Finance (CISL) and #Climatewise at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL): Corinne Martin, Jonathan Middleton, Dr Angela Small, Dr Nina Seega A-Track consortium partners: Capitals Coalition, TECNALIA Research & Innovation, Oppla, UNEP-WCMC, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development) #NatureFinance #SustainableFinance #ESG #NaturePositive #Biodiversity #FinancialInstitutions #GreeningFinance #ATrack

When companies make investments to improve their sustainability practices, such as reducing emissions, they must decide how to finance that investment. In the session “Sustainable Debt Markets” in the Certificate Programme in #SustainableFinance, A/P Matt Dearth, PhD will unpack specialised financing options such as green bonds and sustainability-linked loans, the criteria used to qualify them as sustainable, and the financial implications for the company, its investors, and lenders. In addition, there are risks of #greenwashing to consider and contend with. Join us in our highly interactive session. Is sustainable finance lost in a sea of labels? Current classifications remain fragmented—centered on intentions like “green,” “social,” or “SDG-linked”—rather than actual outcomes. This misalignment leads to greenwashing, capital inefficiencies, and confusion across regulations, investors, and reporting. Our new white paper, Reframing Sustainable Finance, proposes a structural shift. By aligning ESG, the SDGs, and the GCF’s Mitigation–Adaptation–Cross-cutting logic through the Theory of Change, we introduce a new impact-based classification—designed to reflect the real-world effects of financial instruments. 🔹 Figure 1: Conceptual Structure of Sustatinability 🔹 Table 1: Conceptual Structure of Sustainable Finance and ESG-SDG Integration 🔹 Table 2: Comparative Classification of Sustainable Finance Instruments 🔹 Table 3: Functional Impact Mapping of Global Sustainable Finance We believe this reframing is essential to: ✅ Prevent greenwashing ✅ Improve MRV and reporting consistency ✅ Align financial flows with measurable climate and social outcomes This work is part of the ENHANCE™ system, which integrates proprietary models including VORTA™, ToC-f(x)™, PathFinder™, C-FAIR™, VERA™, and VoC™—designed to support both public institutions and private investors in verifying integrity and impact. #ClimateFinance, #SustainableFinance, #ESGIntegration, #Greenwashing, #TaxonomyDesign, #ImpactInvesting, #PathFinder™, #VERA™, #ToC:f(x)™, #C-FAIR™, #VORTA™, #VoC™, #ENHANCE_Institute
