Talking about PPPs - Contract renegotiations due to economic unbalance ( sorry for the dry, technical, drooling topic) 1- Once again: In Brazil, 🇧🇷 and in other developing countries, the risk of excessively broad judicial rights to reviewing the economy disequilibrium in a PPP contract is to avoid the concession's inherent business risk by guaranteeing both the top line (revenue) and the bottom line (costs and reimbursement). 2- This way, the concessionaire can't lose. Nine new MCDF Finance Facility grants for promoting high-quality cross-border connectivity infrastructure investment were approved by the #MCDFGoverningCommittee during its meeting in Beijing on 22 October. 🔹 CAF -banco de desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe-(#CAF) will implement three 🔹 African Development Bank Group will implement two 🔹 Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will implement three 🔹 International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will implement one This brings MCDF’s portfolio to 56 project support grants, totaling USD74.4 million. These grants are expected to mobilize USD12.6 billion in connectivity investment across Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean. Canada currently faces significant challenges in the private sector's ability to build projects with safety and security. The feasibility of pipeline projects, particularly to the west coast, is under scrutiny, as illustrated by the TMX expansion. TMX Expansion was a project approved by the private sector in Canada, requiring no government funding. However, the Liberal government allowed activists to create obstacles, leading to a law-and-order situation instead of protecting legal businesses. Consequently, TMX expansion was acquired by Ottawa, resulting in activists receiving billions, and the project became significantly more expensive under public sector management. The proposal to build a pipeline to Prince Rupert presents a viable opportunity, funded by the private sector, with the potential to generate trillions of dollars for Canada. The critical question remains: Is Canada open for business? Will Ottawa ensure safety and security for the private sector, or will the current Liberal government continue to prioritize ideology over economic growth, contributing to a decline in Canada’s per capita GDP? It is essential to recognize that money has no borders. Canada’s investment losses may translate into gains for countries that protect private investments in natural resources. Canada has the potential to emerge as the world’s third-largest economy by unlocking its natural resources, including oil and gas. The time to act is now, and the direction Mr. Carney’s government takes in navigating our economy will be closely observed.
