🚨 New BridgeGap Deliverable Report Out: Deliverable 4.1 – Case Studies of Best Practice and Critical Incidents at Organisational Level Responding to (Trans)national Risks 🚨 Proud to share our latest contribution to the Horizon Europe BRIDGEGAP project, where we examine organisational integrity management systems (IMSs) across five sectors at high risk of corruption: defence, critical infrastructure, healthcare, professional sport, and banking. Through case studies including the Leonardo bribery investigations, the UK Post Office Horizon IT scandal, Novartis Hellas procurement and whistleblowing irregularities, and anti-money laundering failures in Operation Clean Hands in Belgian football and in the Nordic Nordea Bank, we explore how formal compliance often masks deep systemic weaknesses. Across the critical incidents shown in these cases, belief systems are symbolic, boundary rules ambiguous, diagnostic metrics misaligned, and interactive mechanisms largely absent. We have also identified sectoral specificities along a public value to private value dominant spectrum, with most transparency and more compliance at the edge of the spectrum and more nuanced and negotiated a terrain in the middle. The report moves beyond critique to propose actionable reforms: cross-jurisdictional debarment, integrity-driven procurement, sector-specific regulation, and whistle-blower protections that function in reality -not just in theory or legislation. 📌 Key takeaway: in high-risk sectors, integrity must be a dynamic system -embedded, adaptive, and enforced, where organisations' and organisational intermediaries' buy-in is essential. #IntegrityManagement #Anticorruption #Governance #BRIDGEGAP #HorizonEurope #PublicValue #EthicsInPractice #Whistleblowing #Transparency #CaseStudies #HighRiskSectors Thanks to my University of Glasgow colleagues Denisse Rodriguez-Olivari, Alvise Favotto, Georgios Kominis and Bernhard Reinsberg for their timely and intellectually stimulating input. Thanks are also due to our BridgeGap consortium members, too, especially Alina Mungiu-Pippidi, Massimo Privitera and our three reviewers, for providing such a dynamic & inspiring environment for this work! https://lnkd.in/ecHvPC-n
