Laminate flooring made from engineered wood is inherently sustainable. It stores more carbon than it emits during production, uses wood fibers sourced from managed forests, and requires less energy to manufacture than many alternative flooring types. NALFA-certified products align with the Material Intelligence LLC Climate Positive Now framework to help tell this powerful sustainability story. The Netherlands, long known for its sustainability leadership, has found a clever way to repurpose the massive wind turbine blades that once powered its clean energy revolution. Engineers have begun recycling the decommissioned blades into durable public infrastructure — including bus stop benches and shelter roofs. Each turbine blade, made from reinforced fiberglass composites, is cut and reshaped into ergonomic, curved seating. The resulting benches are not only visually striking but also weatherproof, rust-free, and expected to last decades without maintenance. This creative recycling program tackles one of renewable energy’s biggest challenges: what to do with old turbine blades that are difficult to recycle due to their strong composite material. Instead of sending them to landfills, Dutch designers have turned them into a symbol of circular economy innovation. By turning yesterday’s turbines into tomorrow’s furniture, the Netherlands proves that sustainability doesn’t stop at energy generation — it continues in how we reuse and reinvent our materials. #CircularEconomy #SustainableDesign #GreenInnovation #Netherlands #RecyclingRevolution #CleanEnergy To view or add a comment, sign in

Achieving formal green building certifications, such as LEED or BREEAM, requires careful consideration of every material’s environmental impact. GERARD corrosion-resistant metal roof can contribute significantly to a project’s sustainability goals. Its lightweight nature reduces transportation emissions, and its recyclability helps to lower landfill waste. The thermal performance thanks to our efficient roof vents also supports a building’s overall energy efficiency. To view or add a comment, sign in

At Orchard Group, sustainability isn't just a buzzword - it's a commitment we bring to life on every site we work on. One great example? Our recent project in Unit 1 Minworth, where we applied BREEAM principles to push for smarter, greener buildings. 💡🏗️ 🔋 Energy Efficiency – We’ve integrated features like high-spec insulation and low-energy lighting to cut down on energy use and carbon emissions. 💧 Water Conservation – By using water-saving fittings and rainwater harvesting systems, we’re reducing water consumption on-site and promoting smarter water use. ♻️ Sustainable Materials & Waste Management – From responsible sourcing to serious recycling efforts, we’re keeping waste low and sustainability high. 🌞 Healthy Environments – Natural lighting, improved air quality, and a focus on comfort help us create workspaces that people actually want to be in. Every step of the way, BREEAM helps us stay accountable and raise the bar for sustainability in construction. Facility floors make up to 80% of your building’s visible space, yet they’re often missing from ESG reports. Ignoring them means missing measurable gains in air quality, energy, and water use—all key indicators of sustainability performance. Traditional methods like hot water extraction, when used frequently, consume large volumes of water and chemicals that pile up in your waste reports. Switching to low-moisture cleaning helps you save resources, improve indoor air quality, and simplify ESG tracking through measurable data. If you’re ready to rethink your cleaning strategy and include your flooring in your ESG goals, low-moisture cleaning is a sustainable step forward. Let’s talk. https://lnkd.in/gSbzMmKw To view or add a comment, sign in

Introducing: Knauf Insulation APAC’s New Sustainability Guide I’m delighted to share that Knauf Insulation APAC has just released a comprehensive Sustainability Guide, specifically designed to address the unique climate, regulatory landscapes, and construction practices, with dedicated insights for Singapore and Malaysia. Why This Matters? In Singapore & Malaysia, we are seeing faster growth in green building adoption, stricter energy codes, and stronger public demand for sustainable, health-oriented built environments. But challenges remain: Balancing performance vs cost Managing tropical climate stressors Ensuring circularity (reuse, recyclability) in materials Meeting net zero / carbon reduction targets With this guide, Knauf Insulation APAC aims to empower the entire construction ecosystem in SEA to overcome these challenges — delivering durable, efficient, and sustainable built spaces. Reach out if you want to discuss how these principles can be applied in your projects. #KnaufInsulation #KnaufInsulationAPAC #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #Greenbuilding With regulations and customer sentiment evolving to prioritise energy efficiency, demand for sustainable building specification and material selection has never been greater. 🏢 At Knauf Insulation, our comprehensive range of glasswool products and solutions are designed to achieve regulatory requirements and support the creation of better buildings optimised for thermal efficiency. • Available in a range of R-values, providing optimal thermal performance for the specific project. • Designed to friction fit, minimising gaps. • Adapts to minor surface imperfections and fill spaces, making installation simple. • Flexible material, reducing waste and optimising thermal performance. Energy efficiency in buildings starts with decreasing the need for active energy consumption, mainly for thermal conditioning of indoor spaces. Quality multifunctional, sustainable insulation solutions for building envelope and building systems help to conserve energy by preventing unwanted heat losses or gains in both cold ❄️ and hot ☀️ climates, while contributing to fire safety, noise prevention and indoor air comfort. Hi ya'll! Question; How does Embodied Carbon Affect Store concept & Development? When we talk about carbon in design, we usually think about operations; lighting, heating, cooling. But long before a store opens, a large part of its emissions is already locked in. That is embodied carbon. Embodied carbon measures the greenhouse gas emissions from extracting, producing, transporting, and installing materials. It is expressed in kilograms of CO₂ per square metre (kg CO₂/m²). Every material, from concrete to metals to MDF, carries a carbon cost. Selecting materials with lower embodied carbon often looks more expensive in the early life cycle stages (LCA 1 and 2). Yet over time, in LCA 4, those same choices can become cost effective. By then, circular processes and reuse systems are in place — reducing waste, cutting emissions, and creating long term savings. The goal is not only to design beautifully, but to design responsibly — stores that are lighter on the planet and smarter for the future. #Sustainability #RetailDesign #CircularDesign #EmbodiedCarbon #LowCarbon #ESG #BuiltEnvironment #DesignForCircularity #CarbonReduction #StoreDevelopment #SustainableMaterials To view or add a comment, sign in
