If you are copying a startup’s website ... you are also copying their mistakes. Every week, someone comes to us saying, "We need a new website. I really like Mixpanel's homepage. Let's just copy that." I understand the logic. When building financial apps, founders study Brex, Mercury, and Ramp. They benchmark features and pull the best elements. This works for product development. But ... website design operates differently. Companies often come to us to fix the designs that other founders want to replicate. Example: We'll get a call from Ramp saying, "Our onboarding is broken. Can you help us redesign it?" Then the next week, a startup founder tells us, "We love Ramp's onboarding flow. Let's build exactly that." The founder lacks context about Ramp's internal struggles. They don't know that Ramp actively works to fix conversion issues or that specific friction points hurt their metrics. They're copying problems disguised as solutions. Large companies survive design mistakes that would kill startups. When you're Ramp, people endure clunky onboarding because your product delivers exceptional value. Your brand equity compensates for some poor user experience. Sometimes friction gets added intentionally. High-demand companies introduce barriers to filter prospects or manage overwhelming interest. That strategy makes sense when you're drowning in leads. You're not Ramp. You can't afford those mistakes or deliberate friction. Copying surface-level design without understanding the underlying business context guarantees you'll replicate the same problems at a stage when you can least afford them. We see founders copy designs from completely different industries, making the disconnect even worse. E-commerce checkout flows don't translate to B2B SaaS onboarding, no matter how amazing they look. Your expensive assumption is that copying successful companies guarantees similar results. What you see publicly often masks significant problems behind the scenes. Before you point to any company's design as inspiration, ask yourself: // Do you know what problems they're actively trying to solve? // Do you understand why they made specific design choices? // Are those constraints relevant to your situation?

Today there are 30 million online businesses. In 10 years, only 3,000 will survive. GPT won’t kill startups — it will kill 95% of all businesses. It’s not the next Google — it’s the executioner. Yesterday GPT showed integrations with Zillow, Booking.com, Figma, Shopify, Instacart, and OpenTable. You can now buy, book, design, and plan — without leaving GPT. No websites. No traffic. No clicks. Google once gave life to millions of businesses. In real estate, every country had 20+ aggregators and thousands of agent sites. Top 3 got rich, but even the small ones survived thanks to ads and SEO. That era is over. GPT will integrate the top 2–3 players in every niche it can’t fully replace. Everyone else will disappear. Facebook ads won’t help — users will just ask GPT: “Is this offer good? Show me better.” Every business now has 2–3 years to rebuild its model from scratch. If not — it will be absorbed by GPT or by one of the top 3 players. The rest will be left with only execution — logistics, delivery, manual work. Low margins. Hard labor. No growth. In 10 years, GPT will own up to 95% of the digital economy. Fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, travel, design — everything will move inside GPT. No borders. No languages. The only industry that might survive longer is real estate. Too local. Too emotional. Too human.
