Thrilled to see Tableau pushing the envelope with its October release — especially features like Inspector, Slack integration, and time-based forecasting that bridge analytics and action. I believe a few of these updates are game changers (or will be soon) for leadership and BI strategy: 1. Proactive Insights (Inspector): Gives you alerts before things go off-track, instead of waiting for dashboards to show red. 2. Embedded Analytics in Slack: Reduces context switching. Stakeholders can ask questions and see visuals right where they communicate. 3. Time-based Forecasting (Pulse): Project into the rest of the period, not just at period-end. When working with large datasets in Power BI, apply filters as early as possible in your data model — ideally at the query level (Power Query or SQL). It reduces memory usage. Improves refresh performance. Makes visuals render faster. Tableau Treasure Hunt Hint (28-Sep-2025): Joins & Relationships 👉 “What is the maximum number of tables you can join in Tableau?” Answer = 32 tables. But Relationships remove this limitation. So → if you need more than 32 tables, build it using Relationships instead of Joins.

## 🧩 DAX PERFORMANCE TIP 3: Why Your Date Slicer Shows (Blank) Even When Your Date Table Has No Blanks While working on a data model, I noticed something strange — my **Date slicer** was showing a **"(Blank)"** option, even though my **Date table didn’t have any blank values**. After checking the model, I realized the reason: 👉 One of my **fact tables had blank (null) values** in its **date column (like ClosedDate)** that was linked to the Date table. Here’s what happens behind the scenes 👇 * When a relationship exists between the Date table and a Fact table, * And the Fact table has dates that **don’t match** any value in the Date table (or are **blank**), * Power BI automatically adds a **“(Blank)”** member in visuals or slicers to represent those unmatched records. So even if your Date table is perfectly clean, **blank or unmatched dates in your fact tables** can make that "(Blank)" appear in slicers. 💡 **Tip:** Check for null or out-of-range dates in your Fact tables whenever you see "(Blank)" in a slicer — the issue isn’t with your Date table! #PowerBI #DataModeling #DAX #BusinessIntelligence #Analytics

I challenge my self last week, if I can transform a static Excel KPI Dashboard that I found on the internet into PowerBi. The challenge was real because in excel Report the first 3 columns where measures showing the % of a Grade, and the rest was time slots (x) for specific attributes (y). There were also a total row in which I should display the lowest % of each % Grade and for each timeslot. I have to challenge 2 different things, measures into x axis in PowerBi which is not acceptable from the tool and the custom Total row. So I started by bringing the data into the correct format and I decided to split them into two tables in which the aggregation level was different. Table 1.: I transformed the table an unpivot Grade columns from rows to columns in order to create calculated columns instead of measures about each Grade (Pass, Mid, Fail ) and display them in a matrix as rows. I also aggregated the data and deleting time slots. Table 2.: I used the same data with the first table, I kept timeslots and the Grades of each attribute. I connected this table with the first one (many:1) not in timeslot level but one level up in order to have info from 2 tables into one matrix without duplicates. About the custom total row I kept table 1. And 2. And I added one row (ADDCOLUMNS) with the same number of columns each time. In each union I added a calculation in order to search for the lowest grade. I started from Fail, then Mid then Pass. The struggle was real but mission accomplished.
