Optimistic minting is a key mechanism for Theo RWAs, enabling market makers to mint and redeem 24/7 despite traditional finance's trading hours and settlement delays. Here's how it works: 1. Market makers submit mint (or redeem) requests for Theo RWAs at any time, based on guaranteed quotes provided by Theo. This allows them to make markets 24/7 without assuming directional exposure. 2. Upon receiving a mint request, Theo instantly issues tTokens onchain, assuming any directional exposure on the underlying asset. Theo hedges this exposure on a variety of on- and offchain venues until the desired collateral can be issued onchain. 3. Collateral is ultimately issued onchain to the tToken's smart contract. With this simple design, market makers are able to continuously provide liquidity for Theo RWAs without taking on unwanted risk.

The concept of “optimistic” mechanisms has proven transformative in blockchain infrastructure—from rollups to Layer 2 chains. What’s particularly innovative is applying this same architectural thinking to Real World Assets (RWAs). By bridging traditional finance infrastructure with onchain rails with this method; Theo aims to makes the transition seamless and practical. This approach deserves serious attention from anyone working at the intersection of TradFi and DeFi.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is seeking public input on the use of tokenized products, including stablecoins and tokenized money market funds, as collateral in derivatives markets. The request is part of the CFTC’s ongoing “crypto sprint” to implement recommendations from the President’s Working Group on Digital Asset Markets. While no new rules have been proposed, the move signals growing interest in expanding eligible collateral to include tokenized assets. Comments are open through Nov. 28 on the CFTC’s website. Additionally, while tokenization of real world assets (RWA) could potentially expand the use case for stablecoins, we think that at the current stage, the value add of many tokenization doesn't look convincing enough. For example, we don't think tokenization itself can meaningfully increase liquidity for certain assets, such as private credit, because the key challenge remains how to value these assets. On the other hand, the HK regulators have made it clear that the same regulatory requirement and investor protection will be applied to the same product, whether it's tokenized or not, hence removing potential arbitrage.
