At a time of multiple international crises, the Pentagon’s official positions will be relayed by Timcast, The Epoch Times, LindellTV and the Gateway Pundit... which means that many people simply won’t believe Pentagon statements at all. Anne Applebaum ... Just when you think we have hit the absolute bottom of the abyss, new, lower depths are revealed. The founding people are spinning in their graves.
Timcast? I may as well get my Pentagon updates from the kremlin 😂
A d-list of misinformation sources, top to bottom. Absolutely vital for actual journalists to continue factual reporting - like Ms. Applebaum.
A complete collapse of credibility, under a year to fall from rock solid to a laughing stock
Having spent much of my early career in news, it makes me sad to see that we may never know the truth again.
Goofier and goofier.
That's a joke...with no punch line...

3dAs usual with Anne Applebaum, another sharp and interesting article. I would like to highlight two aspects related to the text: 1. "Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth demanded that all news organizations at the Pentagon sign a document agreeing to some new restrictions on reporters' movement—and, more important, prohibiting journalists from publishing information that contradicts official accounts, a stricture that some believed risked criminalizing ordinary journalism." Between this fact and the establishment of a law aimed at punishing the "defamation" of the army - as in Russia - there is not much distance. And in practice, perhaps a specific law is not needed. 2."Modern authoritarian propaganda, of the kind we are about to receive from the Pentagon and perhaps other government agencies, isn't designed to produce true believers or mass movements. It's designed to produce apathy." Internal propaganda ends up breaking trust in the system. This is the greatest danger. Democracy has among its bases a very important and essential part of its strength, the trust of the citizens. Without it, it is possible to glimpse a wide avenue towards autocracy.
