UNSHITIFICATION. Recruitment’s gone a bit to shit with all the technology people are trying to use in their businesses - that's either in agencies or people trying to use as much technology in their recruitment processes. Enshittification is when a good thing slowly turns crap because it forgets who it’s meant to help. Unshitification is fixing that. Bringing the people part back. We all know it, and it was a chat with a person this morning that alerted me to this term and how we can identify it. We have a state of WAY too much automation, not enough people - which, if we are looking to charge a premium to our people, then we need to pay attention to this. It’s time to UNSHITIFY Recruitment a little, and here's a couple of ways how: 💬 Message automation Stop spamming. Start talking - I used automation myself and thought I had to really pop everything down, which sounded WAY too salesy (sorry for those who got that!). When I created messages with more personality and authenticity, I saw my responses go from around 10% to around 70% - a massive increase! 🎥 Automated interviews Let tech book and structure the call, not run it. This same person told me about someone they knew who had 4 interviews for a role and not one person in the interview process. That's bananas!! 🧍 Human touchpoints People remember how you made them feel - your automated ATS is way more likely to put people off your role, rather than be more excited by it. Given the market we have, with more people available and real talent harder to come by, this is a premium experience you can offer. 💼 Sales Partnerships and Problem Solving > Pitching and Pressure People want to know you're into THEM, rather than pitching some features. How do you do that? Well, we can talk about that offline! 😉 Recruitment doesn’t need reinventing. It just needs cleaning up a bit - and I'll happily be Recruitment's Chief Unshitification Officer! 😂 PS - thanks to Adam Payne for opening my eyes to this term!
