Starting Next Monday, October 6th, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) will be holding it’s annual International Conference in Toronto. This year’s theme, “From the Ground Up: Tall Buildings and City-Making”, explores how urban development must integrate material and social initiatives to create cities that serve all inhabitants. The event emphasizes that meaningful city-making is about more than tall buildings, it is about nurturing the networks of people, institutions, and communities that shape a city’s identity. As part of the program, MTA Partners Phil Silverstein and Carol Phillips are joining the “Learning from Limberlost: Mass Timber Techniques” workshop hosted by the Canadian Wood Council, alongside Steven Street, Nerys Rau, Krista Palen, Mike Love, Pierre Koch, M.Eng., P.Eng., and Steven Craft. Limberlost Place will be a central case study, highlighting how sustainable materials and innovative design strategies can inspire the future of tall timber construction. #LimberlostPlace #ctbuh2025 #MassTimber #GeorgeBrownCollege #TorontoWaterfront #SustainableArchitecture #LowCarbonDesign #NetZeroCarbon #TorontoGreenStandard #TimberInnovation #CanadianArchitecture #MoriyamaTeshimaArchitects #ActonOstryArchitects #DesigningForCommunity #ArchitecturalLandmarks #FutureOfArchitecture #TorontoArchitecture #TorontoTallTimber

Late October, I will be heading back to the College of Architecture, Planning, & Design // K-State to moderate a tall building discussion as part of APDesign's Ekdahl Lecture Series. "This symposium brings together two distinguished voices shaping the skylines of today and tomorrow. One, a global architect known for designing supertall towers with an emphasis on performance, sustainability, and urban integration. The other, a project leader behind the transformative reimagining of Chicago’s Willis Tower base, focused on making iconic architecture more accessible, livable, and user-centered. Through back-to-back lectures followed by a moderated discussion, this event will explore how tall buildings can balance bold vision with human-scale experience—redefining both global cities and local communities in the process." Blue evokes vision and expansiveness. In urban design, it reminds us that architecture is more than buildings — it’s creating entire networks, corridors, and cityscapes. Large-scale transport, waterfront, and civic projects rely on this principle of scale and planning. . #9Days9Designs #NavratriOfDesign #UrbanPlanning #SmartCitiesIndia #DesignVision #FutureOfArchitecture"
