Cambridge Management Consulting is pleased to announce that it has been accredited by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (a part of the Government Communications Headquarters) as an Assured Services Provider to provide advisory services related to Cyber Essentials. These services are specifically designed for small- and medium-sized enterprises which are exposed to largely the same cyber threats as their larger counterparts and are often more vulnerable to them. The Cyber Essentials Standard offers pragmatic steps to improve security for such businesses, which can be achieved without causing major disruption to operations. Tom Burton FCIIS, Senior Partner at Cambridge Management Consulting for Cyber Security, who led this recognition and is himself certified to provide Cyber Advisor services, said, "Supporting the SME end of the market is something very close to my heart. Not being a household name is not an effective defence in a world where the attackers use technology to scour the internet for organisations with vulnerabilities, no matter how small." For many small to medium organisations in Australia, cyber security can feel like a maze. The frameworks are dense, the audits are expensive, and the starting point isn’t always clear 🧐 "Whether you are a senior leader trying to understand your organisation’s posture, or an IT manager looking for a practical way forward, it’s easy to feel you are being asked to run before you can walk," says CyberCX's James Burnard. "We encourage many organisations to consider the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s (ACSC) Cyber Security Principles as a starting point – not because they are the only option, but because they offer a balanced, strategic foundation that’s built for the cyber landscape that Australian organisations are confronting." Read James' blog to learn more about what the Principles are, and how they can help organisations focus on what matters – not just what’s easily measurable: https://lnkd.in/dNhNuhMQ

The latest National Cyber Security Centre Annual Review 2025 shows a clear pattern: as more cyber threats are reported each year, more incidents are being confirmed. In 2024–25, 48% of UK cyber cases were nationally significant, up 50% from last year. This means the UK is spotting threats faster, but serious attacks are also increasing. For SMEs, the message is straightforward: being small doesn’t mean being safe. Attackers focus on weak systems, not company size. Three steps to take this quarter: ✅ Give someone responsibility for cyber risk in your business ✅ Check your backup and recovery process actually works ✅ Run a short tabletop exercise to test your response At Complus, we help UK SMEs build safer, stronger IT foundations, so resilience becomes part of everyday business. #CyberSecurity #SMEs #CyberResilience #UKBusiness #NCSCReview #ComplusIT

As part of this year’s Cyber Security Awareness Month, our founder Lynne Capie partnered with chartered cyber security professional Dougie Grant, member of the NCSC Advisory Group, to contribute to Cyber Matters - a special multimedia series bringing together leading voices from across the Channel Islands. The series explores the risks, realities and opportunities that are shaping how we live and work in today’s rapidly evolving online world. Lynne and Dougie’s article focuses on why organisations can no longer afford to think of cyber attacks as a distant possibility, and how effective cyber event planning, that enables businesses to respond rather than react, can make the real difference between surviving a crisis or not. Read their feature here, alongside articles from Cyber Matters contributors Jonathan Benton (iSanctuary), Matt Palmer (Jersey Cyber Security Centre), and experts from BDO Jersey and C5 Alliance. https://lnkd.in/eXuWf3qW

The reality is that Cyber Essentials is a government-backed scheme designed with smaller organisations in mind, giving you clear, affordable steps to strengthen your defences. By putting the basics in place – from secure configuration and access control to regular updates and firewalls – even the leanest business can protect against common cyber threats. Nearly half of UK businesses reported a cyber breach last year, and SMEs were heavily targeted.
