Olam Agri has joined the Climate Resilience Platform (CRP), an open-access, open-source tool designed to help the world’s farmers and agricultural stakeholders anticipate and adapt to the realities of climate change.   In partnership with PepsiCo, the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, and supported by the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research, CRP 2.0 translates climate science into actionable insights that drive smarter decisions and accelerate regenerative practices across global supply chains.   By contributing funding, data, and expertise, Olam Agri is helping extend the platform’s reach to rice and cotton, two vital crops for food security and rural livelihoods. Today, our Managing Partner, Nosakhare Aigiomawu, represented Country To Continents Agro Limited (C2C Agro) at the Webinar organized by the World Agriculture Forum, themed “Transforming Global Food Systems for a Changing World.” Amazing perspectives from Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, Jacqueline Hughes, Michael Keller, and Petra Laux on the theme. Interesting insights on ending deforestation, building climate-resilient farming systems, and enhancing productivity with quality, disease-resistant seeds. With the global population projected to reach 10 billion by 2050, and Africa expected to host about 2.5 billion out of this population , the continent must prioritize sustainable and inclusive food systems, especially empowering women and youth. At #C2CAgro, we are advancing a practical solution: 👉 Clustering farmers and developing integrated agri-food hubs that enable shared processing, storage, and resource use while protecting the environment. This model strengthens rural economies, reduces post-harvest losses, and promotes climate-smart agriculture at scale. Over the past weeks, I’ve shared reflections from the global webinar on Participatory Foresight for Sustainable Agrifood Systems through Agroecology (FAO | CIRAD | GIZ). In Part 1, I suggested that the future of food isn’t just about technology; it’s about cultivating better thinking and habits. In Part 2, I explored how participation; farmers, researchers, policymakers, and communities working together, is what transforms ideas into reality. Now, in this final part, I want to talk about responsibility, because foresight without action is just wishful thinking. It’s tempting to think the future simply happens to us, that systems evolve, technologies emerge, and people adapt. But that’s not how meaningful change occurs. Every system is built on choices. Every choice reflects values. And values demand responsibility. Agroecology reminds us that food systems are living networks ; of people, land, and ideas. Thus each of us plays a role in shaping them. The farmer who experiments with new practices, the policymaker who listens before legislating, the consumer who questions how their food was grown; each is making a moral contribution to the world we’ll inhabit tomorrow. Foresight, in its truest sense, is not about prediction. It’s about participation in the unfolding of the future. It asks us to confront uncertainty with vision, and vision with action. So, start where you are: Learn by understanding how your choices ripple outward. Engage by listening to the conversations taking place. Collaborate by involving yourself in initiatives. Finally, take responsibility, because every meal, every project, every decision is a statement about the future we want to build. Why the Microbiome Matters in Sustainable Agriculture 🌱 Beneath every thriving plant lies a hidden world the microbiome made up of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms that live in and around plant roots. Far from being just soil microbes, these tiny partners form an entire ecosystem that supports plant growth, improves nutrient availability, and strengthens stress tolerance. In the face of climate change, this relationship becomes even more critical. Rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall, and degraded soils threaten food production but the microbiome offers nature’s own solution. By promoting resilient plant-microbe partnerships, we can reduce dependence on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides while restoring soil health. This shift toward microbiome-based agriculture isn’t just scientific progress it’s a pathway toward sustainability and food security for future generations. 🌍 What does it take to build resilient food systems and communities? Last week, 19 participants from 12 Interaction Schweiz members and their international partners came together in a webinar to explore resilience in the context of Food and Livelihoods, with a focus on agroecology as a key strategy. 🌿Tim Bos from A Rocha Perú shared how agroecology is deeply embedded in their conservation work in the Dry Forest ecosystem of La Libertad, demonstrating how environmental protection and food systems can go hand-in-hand. 🌾 Faustin Ndayisaba from Food for the Hungry_Rwanda emphasized the importance of context-specific, nature-based solutions — like the “Push-Pull” technique — and the crucial role of lead farmers in spreading innovation within agricultural systems and among their peers. 🔄 These experiences underscore the value of systemic thinking to build resilient ecosystems and communities.
