How to create value in private equity: A YouTube series

It’s no longer enough to just buy well and hope for multiple expansion. Time to roll up your sleeves. GPs have been hearing this from LPs for years — especially during fundraising. #Operational value creation has become the main act in private equity, not the footnote. Why? - Because with rising competition, more dry powder, and tighter exit markets, helping your portfolio companies actually improve is the only real edge left. I’ve kicked off a short YouTube series on how experienced funds approach value creation — where it starts, what works, and what LPs are now asking about in diligence. We started with a fireside chat featuring Anne Arlinghaus from KKR Capstone (link below in comments). In Part 1, I cover: • Why the real work begins long before the ink is dry • The go-to value levers (and why overhead reduction is just the start) • How firms are building internal ops teams — and tracking impact If you’re curious what “hands-on” really means — or what it takes to become an Operating Partner — this one’s for you. 🎥 Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/drfgcsMV Next up: Buy & Build — and yes, it’s as messy as it sounds. #PrivateEquity #ValueCreation #OperationalExcellence #PortfolioCompanies #GPstrategy #LPperspective #INSEAD Arnaud Bonzom Bowen White Michael Prahl Harsh Temurnikar @

Thank you Claudia, totally aligned, there is always room for support and improvement, more so, this part of enhancement might be categorized by the type of founders, have you incorporated that in the youtube series ? Will watch them with priority ☺️

Spot on Claudia Zeisberger. Days of “buy and hope” are over — value creation is the strategy now. Love how you’re pulling back the curtain on what real operational work looks like. Part 1 was packed with insights — can’t wait for the Buy & Build episode (because let’s be honest, that’s where things get real). #PrivateEquity #ValueCreation #OperationalExcellence #GPstrategy #PortCoGrowth #LPperspective

Claudia Zeisberger absolutely brilliant. Execution is the key. From getting the fundamental operating model right, to mapping out an ideal scalable end to end revenue and cost focused business value streams, to enabling business value through right and integrated systems and people structure, it's all about operational excellence mindset. Investors need to ensure the cost of operations is optimised from day one. A lot is wasted in the name of learning.

Very insightful Claudia Zeisberger I cannot agree more that value creation is no longer a nice to hace. Since I graduated from INSEAD 20D I am seeing this every day from the Alvarez and Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement team. From ODDs that help PEs to set the blueprint of the 100 day plan and identify value creation levers to the actual Transformation Plans that can co-exist from a few months, to the full investment period. Most of large-cap PEs have dedicated Operational teams but we are incresigly seeing efforts on mid-low caps to incorporate these roles to the teams. A key aspect is also to set incentives properly, and sometimes beyond the more senior managment team. Give a good incentive to an operational manager, and you will for sure see a more reactive and ambitious transformation! We did not have the chance to meet at INSEAD but I am a great fan of your book and we actually give them to all our junior joiners as part of the onboarding pack. You might have seen a peak in Amazon :) I will be more than happy to keep connecting offline through a private LinkedIn message

I partner with PE portco CTOs to deliver on the investment thesis by changing the culture of their existing org from halting to daily delivery so they can get the race going.

There's a delicious irony in that "shared services" within a portco can lead to massive margin improvements, especially after a lot of M&A activity, where there can be lots of duplication of work when those acquisitions are not well integrated. Loved the talk.
